I take noone’s point that their tech may be simple (but probably not) and logically a low production amount may be easy to get supply for, though my experience with other manufacturers is that will not necessarily be true, but it is at least possible.

I remember from the presentation that there was something clever about the battery cooling but can’t remember what.

Very true but is using battery power really something that is earth friendly. How do car companies dispose of the old electric car batteries? Will they simply be dumped into some trash sites waiting for them to disintegrate itself? Sometimes it is hard to understand the logic.

That's perfectly true. What you described happened exactly with carbon wheels for the Pista. These are produced in Australia by Carbon Revolution. Already since August last year supply has stopped.

Are you saying all Pistas being assembled with carbon wheels are using up stock of wheels that were built before last August?

I can tell you my Pista has been delayed for months due to the Carbon wheels!

More or less yes! At least since August last year it's not possible to order them any more. All sets which where available for Ferrari have been sold out since that time. Shortly after they were removed from the online configurator, option for Pista Spider was skipped and so far as I know, they are by now even not available as spare part.

That looks fantastic! I'm still waiting to see it in all black. I hope the SF90 Stradale configurator goes online soon, should be fun to play with.

The design continues to grow on me. I'm actually digging the new tail lamps and hammerhead spoiler now. And I'm loving the rear end overall, has the aggressive N-Largo look to it. I know it will look longer and lower in real life too, as photos and videos tend to exaggerate height. I do wish it had butterfly doors but guess that's verboten except for the true Ferrari halo cars.

Hopefully the local dealer is interested in bringing in some new customers, since I have never owned a Ferrari. I'm fine waiting my turn, as I absolutely love my 720S and not looking to part with it anytime soon.

Scrap the carbon wheels I saw them at factory and the discolouration inside the rim is unsightly.

There is no doubt that this car is incredible value for money versus say a Veyron or LaF.

However it represents a transitional technology (to full electric) and carries huge depreciation and obsolescence risk. Think flat screen TVs. Batteries are getting lighter, cheaper, more powerful and holding charge longer, and unlike ICE the changes will be radical, exponential and non linear.

Further it is likely that other specialist manufacturers with no pedigree in ICE will be able to compete with Ferrari, whose main competitive advantage has been ICE engine development and state of the art tech.

Outside the engine most Ferrari components are bought in and available to competitors eg brakes, suspension etc. Barriers to entry are low once the complex and expensive ICE development is obsolete.

It’s a challenging time for Ferrari buyers and plotting ownership costs for SF90 is very hard. You can construct an argument that this car is very unattractive in 10 years.

Plug in hybrids are also very inconvenient for many urban dwellers.

There is a F12 TDF here in town made in bare aluminum (might be a 1 of 1, not sure) and it looks incredible in silver metal. But there is also a black LaFerrari here which is the most jaw-droopingly beautiful car I've seen. I consider the P1 and 918 to be faster, but LaF to me is by far the most desirable among those three.

I spec'd my 720S in Glacier White which has a lot of silver, gray and some blue metallic, and I absolutely love it. I don't find black to be flattering to the 720S at all.

It would be interesting if they would paint the rear scoop in body color instead of black.

ALSO, it would be interesting to see the roof in Stainless Steel like the Maserati Bora.

A friend owns the bare aluminum TDF. Truly an amazing and unique look. Not sure it would work on the SF 90 but might be worth asking.

Many experts beg to differ. They regard hydrogen powered regard fuel cells as the future, with electrics being the stop-gap. For supercars though, the ICE can live on, as their small production volumes won't have a significant impact on the environment.

Brakes yes, suspension no, but I get your point. It is one thing to buy a component and a totally different to calibrate and integrate it into your overall design though. Case in point, the Getrag DCT that Ferraris share with AMGs. Same hardware, totally different calibration and experience. ;)
