Took my '79 GTB out yesterday for a drive. And every time I do, I just like it! I've got Weber individual air cleaners on each carb which allow that intoxicating sound to come through even more (plus no cats). And all that neat sound is right behind your head. And when I take it to red line it just sounds awesome.

What fun little cars. We are lucky!

How about a pic of that intake set up. It sounds like a cool idea. Thanks.

Sorry guys, I didn't even think about that. Anyway, here are a couple of pics of the carbs. I got the air cleaners from Pierce manifolds in Gilroy, CA, www.piercesmanifolds.com. Their PN 99217.212G.

As I said, these are a Weber part and they fit perfect. After removal of the factory air cleaner (CAREFUL WITH THE SMALL NUTS AND SPACERS WHEN REMOVING THE AIR HORNS. DON'T DROP THEM INTO THE CARB!), you then remove the rubber gaskets from the factory air cleaner, and fit them into the new air cleaner base/s. These gaskets fit perfectly in the base of each new air cleaner. You place the base on the carb., insert the small spacers over each small stud, then place the air horn on the base/gasket and re-install the small nuts on the suds. Place the element on the base, install the top then secure with the supplied clips and you're set.

There will be those that say you eliminate the cool exterior air feed to the carbs. That's true but I don't know if it really matters. FWIW, these air cleaners do allow unfettered access to the adjustment screws on each carb.

Certainly not concours, but boy do they sound good! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
