    I had all the toys and posters. To a suburban school kid the Ferrari Testarossa might as well have been on Mars though. No one I knew had ever seen one, let alone owned one.

    Tuesday I flew halfway across the continent to see a car from halfway around the world that was dubiously Imported a quarter century ago.

    I’m pleased to announce that I am the proud owner of a 1988 European Spec Testarossa. Monodado, red with creama and nero interior. Blaupunkt audio system from what appears to be the original importer (maybe factory, I know Euro cars had PN#’s for the amp it has). 25k miles. Even has a set of Speedlines as an extra bonus.

    I can’t wait to have her home. I’ve been blogging my experience to purchase her. It’s not quite ready for prime time but I was excited to share this news. You all know how it feels to make this happen. Could have bought other cars but years of research and this is the one. Bellissimo.

    Agreed. It doesn’t seem common. Monodado was my only requirement I couldn’t bend on, the combo really appeals to me. Hard to photograph, once I get it back home I’ll be sure to get some good pics. Car was featured in the 2004 Palm Springs Classic show ads, it just has that ‘something special’.     I did a similar thing about 2 weeks ago - flew Vancouver to Toronto to look at and buy a yellow 1990 Testarossa.

    She’s home safe and sound. Timing belts tomorrow. Repaired a few odds and ends. I’m working on a new design for dedicated power on the window motors. Haven’t decided if I’ll do relay or transistor switching. Obviously will share all I do, this forum is the reason I felt comfortable enough to buy the car. I don’t hesitate at all to improve on engineering design.

    Now that the engine is back in, pretty great car! First week of ownership involved a lot of labor to swap belts, alternator, service some systems and then get running strong. Got to drive about an hour yesterday, feels amazing.

    Oddly hard to find a soundtrack to listen to while driving. I’m between old Depeche Mode and new alt rock. Strange ;) and congrats on your new acquisition! Image Unavailable, Please Login

    I've been doing alot of INXS, Tina Turner, Robert Palmer, Sade over the past few years. I have an IPod hookup and I think I've had the INXS cd in the car for 2 years straight LOL
