355 Ugh - it's going to rain

    I'm so pissed off right now I need to vent. Obviously I'm up at 5am (well it's 6 now). Why am I upset? My car is being displayed at a car show- my first car show I've ever entered. It is a great honor to have even been considered (cars being displayed are invite only) and even the designer of the F355 will be there along with other iconic Ferraris. So at least to me this is a very big deal.

    And it's going to rain.

    I'm upset because when I got the invite months ago, I knew it was going to rain. I just knew it. I can picture nuts rusting, the buttresses corroding along the edge. Who knows what will happen to the electrical connections... And everything else I can't see.
    The underside of the car is clean. The engine bay is clean. It's all original and at 18k it has some patina, but it's all so clean and rust free.

    I can't and won't bail on the event. I can't stand it when *******s flake out, and I'm not doing it to the organizers. I'm certainly not doing it to the dealer whom does so much for me, and I didn't even buy the car from them. But damnit I still hate what this car is about to endure, and it's under my care. Oh and I don't have an enclosed trailer so I have to drive it in the rain to get there so it's even worse. Ugh.

    I feel for you and at the same time know it won’t melt. It will take some time to re-clean. You could grab some big garbage bags and lay on top of engine nice and neat and minimize some exposure there. Can’t drive like that, so no way around it but when good and hot it will steam off the water way quicker.

    You know all of this and I am sure you don’t want a peanut gallery. Just pissed and venting. I get it. Sucks. Will pour one out for you

    I know how you feel, but what can you do. Bring a lot of microfibers towels and spray shine Try to relax and enjoy the day, the next dry day bring it to a detailer or like me clean it yourself.

    Of course today is a ****ing spectacular day!

    I feel your pain. I never drive my car in the rain, and I know some will think I'm a pansy. But like you, I know what corrosion can do to everything and just plainly put-- I just don't enjoy driving or dwelling in the rain. :mad: But if it makes you feel better, up here it has rained every weekend since march except for last weekend which was the first time I was able to take my car out this year.

    It is a car, if it fails at being so it somehow loses the point in my opinion, but everyone is different. I drive mine all weathers.

    Just take a breather. I drove my 355 in rain a few times, nothing happened.

    Also, when I visited the Ferrari factory, there were many body shells sitting outside and guess what, it was raining!

    Meh. I drove my 355 home for over an hour in a solid down pour.
    The rooster tail was awesome!

    Just make sure to clean it all up and dry it all out when it is all over.

    It is, in the end, just a car.

    We've had nothing but rain every weekend since March. And a lot of rain throughout the week as well.

    You could always pay to trailer the car there and back so it would get less filthy... always options.

    Rain's never fun at a concours, but the weather is the weather and the days can't all be perfect (just checked our weather and am bummed that German Car Day outside of Boston tomorrow will be wet...and today looks great). Check out the photos from Cavallino last January - that was a wet one - and I understand only a very few cars didn't show.

    Glad you're bringing your car even with rain. It will clean up and the weather gods will owe you one :)

    I tried a few different people to source a trailer and unfortunately it is a no go. I'm to hjust goingave to suck it up.

    It's Eyes on Design, and the show is one day only, tomorrow. I am excited to meet the designer, Leonardo Fioravanti!

    Thought about you guys today.

    Rained after I got to the car show today. Lost of fun, but pretty wet for about 4 hours.

    The car did not melt!!!! Who knew? ;)

    I even made it home without incident! :)

    I drove my F355 through 2 days of 3 inches per hour of rain on clicks.
    I had to do nothing more than clean the car and vacuum the interior.
