Why do some 430 Scuds sit for a year or more before they sell. Is the market that limited for them? I see a red one that has sat for almost two years. A white one for a year and a gray one for a year. Clean carfax and plenty of clutch. What gives?

Like most things it comes down to price and condition. Mileage can have a big effect on price to. IF the car is priced correctly for the condition then it should sell.
However as you suggest the market is limited. The Scuderia is not for everyone as the Italia for example offers similar performance numbers and many superior benefits. The Italia does it all in a more refined way than the Scuderia. Horses for courses...

The dealer I bought my 575 from has a scud he’s had since I bought my car, October 2017, still for sale at the same price, no discount....everyone has inflated views of what cars are worth. They made a lot of scuds, it’s a cool car but it’s not that rare and the 458 is way better and can be had sub 150.

If a car is still available after 90 days, then the likely answer is that the asking price is too high.

Scud is going to be a long term hold, but realistically probably worth closer to $150-160k right now.
And ultimately as noted if you're spending $150-220k right now, 458 is a leap ahead and can qualify for extended warranty coverage (they might have a year or two more CPO available on Scud but I didn't ask).

I have never seen one under $160k even with high miles. Certainly not sub 15k miles.

They never ask that but dealer I got my 575 from has been asking $219k for nearly 2 years now....at what point do you drop the price, $219k is clearly not the going rate or it would’ve sold

I think part of the issue and they are also sitting here in SA, is they are very raw which is too much for many, meaning there is a limited target market.

    I don't think +/- 2000 is a lot .458 was around 25000.

Scud has a much bigger potential collectable value in future years.

people are busy putting new dollars towards new models because they think there is a game to be played....and the scud doesnt have the following the CS has. rarely do people opt for a 430 over a CS but they often opt for the 458 over the scud.

Meh 2000 is a lot, my 575 is one of 2064 and one of 500 or so in the us, it’s still sub $100k and that is a beautiful front engine classic 12. Just saying 2000 scuds is low run but other cars with same production numbers are lower than $200k.Look at the 456, there’s a nice one here in Houston near me for sale for $49k and it’s a 2001 and 1 of like 480....

Yep, alot of dealers bought high and refuse to take the hit. I've talked to a couple of these poor delusional dealers in the past couple of months, made solid market correct cash offers, and they can't hang up the phone fast enough. And the cars had been for sale for 2 years and 3 years respectively.

And I'm looking for odd color combos that most wouldn't want anyway.....

Not looking very hard....just in the past 2-3 months we have:

    1. The 55k mile rental car $120k-ish
    2. Ed Bolian's 28k grey car at $140k (they met in the middle at $140k....hilarious
    3. The grey CNC car for less than $150k (18k miles)
    4. The nice 14k mile red one that was sold (I imagine) in the high $150s k

The Pozzi Blue car the CNC has is asking less than $160k, and I'm sure can be had in the $140s. 23k miles.....if deep in the $140s I'm pretty interested myself, crazy color combo.

So is it dealers or sellers on consignment that are doing this? I didn't realise dealers held so much stock? Genuinely wanting to know. In the UK I think it is more sellers consigning on a sale or return, than dealers' own stock. For used Ferraris generally. Dealers gripe at me about how sellers won't reduce unrealistic prices.

Simple, overpriced for the current market. Either they lower their price, or wait however long is required for the market to recover.

Yes I've done the same. At some point they have to cut their losses right? Aren't they losing money every month keeping these cars for sale?

Depends on if the own it or consignment, but they still have overhead each month....rent, utilities, insurance, phone, internet, wages, etc.

My understanding was that only 1500, or so, scuds were made...

There are many threads on the subject. Based on what I have read, in my opinion it is definitely north of 2000 made....how far past 2000? No one truly knows the exact number. Just lots of speculation and "I know a guy at the factory..." ;) But Ferrari was making very few F430 during 2008 and 2009, most all of production was focused on making 430 Scuderias. Just do a search for available used F430s 2005 to 2007. Then check used F430s from 2008 to 2009. I did this a few times over the years and big drop in 2008 and 2009. I'm sure its still the same today.
