    Just finished reading this big book and partial autobiography by Newey. Fantastic read (written by a ghost writer who has a very fluid style) and highly recommend it to everybody.

    Since Newey and I are of similar age, his story of F1 begins pretty much where my interest started as well. This is relevant in the sense that I understand most of his references to teams, drivers and races (I'm a on thin ice when it comes to his Indycar years, where I have little knowledge).

    He gives great insight into a variety of teams, team principals, drivers and FIA politics. Patrick Head and Dennis don't look so good afterwards.

    I bought this for my Dad and he really enjoyed the book. I've always had a love hate on Ron Dennis. He is about the most arrogant nasty person you could meet. Cold and Calculating to the Nth degree. BUT - you have to admire how he single handed made F-1 more professional. He ( and John Barnard ) took Mclaren from the bottom of the grid to the best in the world.

    Patrick Head - never really saw or understood. He and Frank Williams were tough on people & especially drivers. but they did some great work.

    Agree on Ron Dennis. Sad that his career ended that way. I don't think McLaren will ever be the same again.

    Frank Williams, I never liked. I can't say I feel sorry for his team going down.

    would recommend the other book by John Barnard, agreed it was a great book for those that can remember events. I found the Barnard book a little self gratifying but it does open your eyes on his time at Ferrari..............a must read

    Alonso has 2 chances in the meantime...

    Interesting. Reading his book I can tell that he is very much thinking about the triple crown.

    BTW: He participated as a driver in one of the 24 hours of Le Mans.

    Daughter got me this for xmas. Just getting through the first chapters, re formative yrs. Lol, he and Jeremy Clarkson go to prep school together and both get expelled.

    It´s nice for the tech talk, but I always distrust these autobiographies, it´s easy to put the blame on someone else. He´s quite nasty with Ron Dennis and we all know that Ron is a pain in the ass, but I wonder how much is about blaming him for the bad cars Newey made then.
