Crazy pricing there. I replaced my F430 windscreen about a month ago. £1,126 from Eurospares plus £216 specialist fitting.

Thanks for sharing your experience Jim.

Glad to hear you are OK.

Yes, I found a local glass shop that works on Ferrari's on a regular basis, highly recommended, very highly rated and very professional.
They will provide me a quote tomorrow.

    Dan,

Sorry but Your Local Ferrari labor quotes sounds like a total ripp off....sorry Guys but Ferrari does not have a one of a kind unique process to replace a windshield...the car company I work for also trains in house replacements with very similar replacement process,
This is not rocket science..it upsets me when it is acceptable to take advantage of clients just because it says Ferrari.
Just be fair and reasonable and watch how much more work that equates to..!!

    Thanks for this great info.

Based on this, its totally possible to replace an F430 Windshield in about 3 hours or less of labor.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts K// and I agree with you 100%

That is why I am getting 2nd and 3rd quotes as there is a big difference between making a fair profit and taking advantage of someone...........
And even if insurance is paying, at the end of the day, in life - Fair is Fair.

Hey Dan.. sorry to hear about your misfortune.. typically your Insurance company will cover the cost of the windshield. I advise my clients to take it into the dealership and have them replace it since they will in-turn bill your insurance carrier. Replacing a windshield will/should not affect your rates. Fun Fact- there are a few carriers that cover all glass on your cars..

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks for chiming in.

Yes, I may end up just taking it to the dealer.
It's just difficult to stomach $9K to replace a windshield even if the insurance is paying.....

Especially when the OE windshield can be purchased for $2,600.00 and labor should be around $1K. That's dang good profit.......

    Hey Dan,
Sorry to hear about your windshield!
Don’t see an update so not sure if you have had your windshield replaced yet or not....
I would contact your body shop...they I’m sure have replaced many windshields in the past....and are more suited and experienced with Ferrari’s than most glass shops or even the Ferrari Stealer!
    Good luck! Keep us posted!
    Enjoy the ride....

    Hi Griffin,

    Updates for you and everyone.

Most glass shops that were recommended to me by Porsche and BMW guys didnt want to touch Ferrari's for liability issues. They're afraid of damaging the glass or damaging the car and end up eating the cost to repair or replace.

There were 2 that were recommended to me that has done Ferrari's are either too busy or just dont do a good job replying to their customers.

    1) Euroglass of Redmond. I called them, talked to them on the phone, then I emailed them my VIN number and asked them to get back to me and no reply. I called them a week later and left a message. No reply. Its been over 2 weeks now and still no reply. Im on the fence on either me trying to reach out to them again or just forget it since looks like they dont want my business.

    2) Professional Glass Company of Seattle: They told me on the phone the glass is $4,600.00 (same as Ferrari of Seattle) labor should be around $1,200.00 but they need to see my car first. I told them I have a copy of the Ferrari Workshop Manual that shows step by step how to remove the glass. He said "I dont need that". Interesting.......you would rather figure it out yourself and make trial and errors versus following the factory procedure?

So perhaps Ferrari of Seattle is it since insurance is paying for it. I just again like to support local mom and pop store versus multi million dollar businesses that's already doing very well for themselves. And its hard to justify $3,564.00 of labor.............

I don't currently live in Florida but IIRC when I did all car insurance companies were required to cover windshield replacement with no deductible for their Florida customers.

Not here in Washington state. Windshield is covered under comprehensive, and for me I have a (not bad) $250 deductible.

I still can't understand how they came up with $3,600.00 for labor.

$4,600.00 for the windshield is not surprising I guess because of Ferrari tax.

Please do not infer in what I offer as a justification for what Seattle Ferrari wants for a new windshield.

The other day I came across a website that claimed what the salary range is for Ferrari Technicians.
    Automotive Service Technician / Mechanic
    Average: $64,142
    Range: $39k - $103k

I was surprised at the top end number.

Although I consider 9K for a windshield replacement beyond the pale, I can understand why some low volume Ferrari dealerships charge what they can get. OTOH, I suspect Seattle Ferrari is not a low volume dealer, consequently, there technical costs may be quite high.

On the basis of your latest post, it looks like you have to use Seattle Ferrari. As insurance covers the cost -- and you already pay for that -- you might as well get the job done right (presumably). I know it does not feel right, but what can you reasonably do given the experience you cite trying to finding an alternative provider.

    Hi Jim,

I am not inferring anything. I'm just stating I am having a difficult time understanding $3,600.00 labor charge to replace a windshield, even on a Ferrari . Never heard such before. Especially when an Independent auto glass gave me a figure of $1,200.00.

Yes, since my insurance is paying I guess I will just take it to the dealer...........

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
