Sounds like they were just llifting off. Witnesses said the plane looked wobbly. Maybe lost power, or a big gust of wind. Probably happened too fast for anyone to react. Full load of fuel went off like a bomb on impact. Relatives watching in the tower. Horrible.

“The Dillingham Airfield will be closed indefinitely in the wake of the crash, the state said. ”

The plane (N256TA) was involved in another issue 3 years ago(2016)... damage was repaired.

Also, there's a record of this same plane (N256TA) having severely contaminated fuel in 2008 (was also a skydiving plane in Canada then) after it's 'sister' King Air crashed with bad fuel, filters, abnormal wear, etc.

Skydiving operations are notoriously unsafe, and crash fairly regularly. I think the skydivers put up with it because they figure hey, they're wearing parachutes after all. But sometimes even that is not enough.

I remember a story about a tandem out there and the primary chute failed, and the reserve failed as well. I guess you have to be a little bit fatalistic.

From the way this one sounds I'm guessing at overload and an aft CG. I don't know what kind of twin Beech this was but I flew in AT-7's during the war and they weren't meant to carry 11 people.

I didn't think of that airplane but it shows that I'm not up to stuff now. This kind of incident happened in this part of the world when an over loaded Lodestar stalled and went in when all the jumpers moved aft to the door .

ummm, I owe you guys an apology, my eyes are bad, it was made in 1967, not 1987.
