Question.... Are Tecnomodels actually licensed by Ferrari??? I can't believe Ferrari (and Porsche + others) who are usually so hyper protective how their cars are replicated would approve these horror shows...
No, Tecnomodel does not have any license with any of the car manufacturers...except possibly McLaren. I know that years ago they had a license with Aston Martin Lagonda, but they got screwed by AML, when AML licensed some much cheaper well done models that were almost identical to what Tecnomodel was making under license at the time. Ferrari, Porsche, etc are not any better with their licensing ethics - read lack of ethics. I am not a fan of Tecnomodel, but just wanted to fill in another "piece of the puzzle."
I have heard something were I am not sure if it is true Italian has different rules Sergio Marchionne CEO Ferrari signed all License agreements with his death all Ferrari agreements signed by him are invalid
Good question. They have in the past gone after some very small model makers and dealers, particularly in the USA. Not a "friendly" situation. I remember one time, many years ago, they hired a New York law firm, who bought an issue of Cavallino magazine, and proceeded to go after many of the advertisers. In more recent years they went after Exoto, had a big legal battle with them. In that instance, Exoto certainly deserved Ferrari's wrath. After 37 years in the model car industry, I have yet to have ever heard one concise answer that covers it all. I can say that over the years I have seen and heard of very many different situations, tons of explanations, etc.
Yes. And CMC refers to all of their marques now with "CMC" text being placed before each marque, i.e. : CMC Ferrari.
I'm still waiting for someone to do 1/18 built-ups of the 1966/67/68 F1 Ferraris. They may not have been the most successful - only three GP wins - but they looked (and sounded) spectacular!
But than you have marques like KK Scale, Top marques, Tecnomodel, Matrix, CMR...that keep releasing Ferrari models and don't seem to care about it...
Even though I wont touch a 1/18th scale, I admire this one from Top Marques. I am begging them to do it in 1/12th scale also!! I have seen this car and also have many pictures of it. They nailed it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Technomodel has it all wrong, I have never seen a model of them with such as many mistakes in line, interior, windows... it is a horror. The Matrix version is Much much better and has the right lines, interior and ...colours (silver and dark blue...NO metallic) Only thing missing on the models is the little windows in front of the windshield wipers.... Small advice: put some 20 euro's extra aside and buy the Matrix version.
Looks nice, Gp replicas are really going at it, plenty of old f.1 cars avaibale, great because i know many who colect them in this scale. I received this one a couple of weeks ago, by looksmart, looks very nice, unfortunatly i got it by mistake, it was suposed to be 1/43, but since it was my mistake (gave the wrong ref when ordering) i had to keep it), but if anyone is interested in this model, please Pm me. Not the case, he signed in name of Ferrari SPA, international law states his signatures are valid Ferrari rulings.
Based on the photo of the real car, I'd say the engine isn't too large, but is sitting a bit too high. And the slope of the top forward of the cockpit is too straight; it appears to start out nearly horizontal and then increase in slope towards the nose. But I might buy one anyway.
The nose looks too long, and should have a gentle slope down but the model looks straight, with a flat slope. Not impressed. Nathan
