This is ridiculous. Boring? Headaches? Stick with the Toyota’s and slower, softer cars then. Very silly.
I know it’s not included in the choices but why not spend a few more bucks and get a McLaren 675 Spyder? Zero flex and spectacular to drive.
Drove the 600LT Spider and it’s in the mix but obviously would be new with potential big hit on the depreciation if McLaren history repeats itself.
The 675 in my opinion is a more bespoke car than the 600, hence the $100k difference in original msrp. It has a broader range of personalities i.e. proactive suspension, and it’s already experienced most of it’s depreciation. I love Ferrari ‘s, still have a 550 and 430, but the modern ones don’t do it for me.
I had a 458, 488 and now Pista. I loved my 458 but seriously vs the 488 -sound etc? Give me a break —the 488 is hands down superior in every aspect.
Im so sorry to hear about your Father. thank you for sharing. Very interesting to know how everyone thinks and how different people are. I have a 458 spider, I love the car and I get how you feel. Sounds like NA and sound is more important to you than power and handling.
Careful with comments about a 458 owner couldn’t afford a 488. You’re talking with the 1% percenters here, some people here could buy your company and turn it into a dump. If someone here has an older car is because they choose to.
Be careful of what? I did not make it a negative point, I simply state that some buy used and older cars as they cannot afford a new model. That's not the case for all, but it's the case for some. No need to take offens to that. Some like you, choose a used 458 because that's what you want and prefer, while others choose an older car like a used 458, F430, 575 or what ever have you, because they don't have the coin for a new car. Nothing wrong with that, and I never said there were, and I did not even imply it in the slightest.
I have zero experience in a 488, I have a 458 spider and drive with the top down as much as possible. The sound is orgasmic and I can’t imagine a 488 with turbos could sound as good. I would love the extra power of the 488, but for either car I would go for the spider. So awesome to have the wind in your hair and the F1 sound winding it to 9000 rpms every chance you get.
Very personal decision - sound is better on 458 spider but driving dynamics IMO are significantly better on 488 spider so I bought the 488 spider as driving was most important to me Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Cognitive dissonance is real. We defend our decision and believe it. The more one spends the more one defends their decision. Drifting is not a consideration for me. Maximizing times on a race course means eliminating drifting as much as possible. IMVHO drifting just means you go through tires about as fast as you change your underwear. I guess one mans fun is another mans silly expense.
You want lap times in a mountain road? Of course you drift the car in a 180 curve, its fun and very rewarding when you do it properly. The 458/488 spider is NOT a track car!
Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login There is a beautiful triple yellow 458 Spider for sale in the commercial classified section...gorgeous. Mine always puts a smile on my face, and doesn’t feel like a targa...wind in the hair!
Beautiful! yellow Ferraris...the normal yellow, the trilplo giallo...just beautiful Enjoy, life doesnt get much better than that...
The sensors are nice, but the cameras are fairly useless. Also, the 458 is a lot narrower in the butt than the 488. I think the 488 has a 8 or 9 inch wider rear.
Right. And l don’t want a track car. Got it out of my system. Long ago. Every time l see these reviewers on drifting TV I think...these guys are not paying for the tires they are burning up out of their own pockets. I would be happy to drift someone else’s car with someone else’s tires. I am in.
You might want to look up your stats on that. The 458 is 193.7 cm wide, and the 488 is 226.1 cm wide, not counting the mirrors. Don't believe me? Look in the owners manuals. That's 32,4 cm, or 12.75 inches. The rear of the 488 is huge by comparison.
