Ferrari has just ended the era of the atmospheric (naturally aspirated) V8 engines (V12 to come).

This is why I believe these 3 cars have a potential collectible value in the future. But which one to buy?

--> please answer the poll question

To go a bit further in the reflexion, here is a short list of the advantages per model:
    • CS: first racetrack focused Ferrari edition. Glorious sound. Smallest production number (about 1200). Inspired directly from the racetrack to the road and not the other way around (like Scud or Speciale). Price tag today from 150k$ to 220k$.
    • Scuderia: a bit the “middle child”. No huge noticeable advantage from the previous or next. Price tag today from from 150k$ to 220k$.
    • Speciale: last V8 atmospheric engine. Mark the end of an era. Fastest car. But larger production number 2000+. Best engine 2011-2-4 award. Price tag 300k to 350k.
On my side, I have already eliminated the Scud but am still hesitating between the CS or speciale…

Let’s see what you guys will say !

    Thanks in advance !

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply !

But I believe your numbers are a bit wrong.

Here a strong source saying they are actually about 1200 CS !

    https://www.challenge-stradale.com/wiki.html

But still CS is rarer than Scud or Speciale

    Regards,

    Pierre

Pretty sure there were more than 378 CS produced.
Maybe 378 imported to the US but way more than that produced.

umm...no. (you have listed the USA number only for CS)

Closer to 1300 CS's worldwide. But, your point is still valid, it was produced in lower numbers than the others. What that means to anyone or the market? I wouldn't venture.

Tired topic. Covered and debated in one permutation or another many times. Boring to discuss such great driving cars in terms of collectability. (I owned a CS for 7 years and will likely own a Scud or Speciale in the future. But only to drive, not "collect". But then I don't get excited by saying I "own" something)

everyone has their preference to me the CS and the Scud are very similar both very raw and wonderful sounding ..the scud has an excellent shifting transmission
the speciale just never did it for me does not seem as raw as the others... so best to get one of each
but if only one for me its the SCUD ... still think it is best looking of them all

Challenge Stradale if only one due to the looseness in a corner, the literal challenge it provides in aggressive driving situations. It is the one that makes my heart beat faster. But I love the 16M and Speciale as well.

Which one to buy as a value is very different from which one to buy for investment.

For bang for the buck the Scud cant be beat.
Precisely because its the least collectible of the 3.

For pure collectability the CS wins and the Speciale comes in second but may pull stronger if the market values "Last of the NA V-8s" more than it does now..

My heart tells me to look at Scuds.
    My brain says CS.
My pocketbook says pass on the Speciale ;)

After a month or so in the Pista, I must say that machine is well planted in corners. You can really feel the rubber and pull the car through tight turns. Obviously it is the fastest of the four. And from the start of the 488, I feel Ferrari incorporated a turbo better than other manufacturers.

At least for now, the Pista really throws a monkey wrench in my eloquent prose extolling the CS. Faster is really fun! The Pista feels better cornering hard than the other three. Like more comfortable at higher speeds. Of course this makes sense with better tire technology and I suppose better suspension. If you also push it hard in the corners when you drive, I would be interested to hear your comparative feedback. Pista spider came in Friday and I cannot wait to have it topless at Pebble!
