Was in Modena recently and enjoyed a Fantastic meal, Experience at Osteria Francescana , met Massimo outside of Restaurant as we where wondering around city, very kind person, and next day at Osteria , we had Tasting Menu , and wine pairing. 3 1/2 hr. meal , at first we where joking around that we would go for Pizza afterwards , as the portions of each plate looked small , but we where more than satisfied at end. Each plate was a work of art! Loved the little note in Menu , quoting Enzo. For me, Victoria and Alberts at the Grand Floridian hotel in Orlando. Simply stunning and gets voted top 5 restaurants in US year after year. I hear they are 6 months out for reservations, but a friend had an opening there so we took advantage. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Did you have reservations or were you able to "walk in"? I will be in Modena in July and tried getting reservations, I was hoping to walk by and see if they would accommodate me...
In my opinion, the finest restaurant in Memphis is Erling Jensen. It's small, a former house, and owned by a world renowned chef. It's very personal and the food is top tier. I give it a 4.9 stars. The deduction from 5 stars is because it is in Memphis, kind of a low brow town. You'll need a reservation to get in. http://www.ejensen.com/
Reservations needed , my Wife did a few months before, that was experience in itself , you must go to their Website and get in line. they will not take Phone reservations, I'm sure they are booked for Months at a time, so walking in for a seat wont do, but maybe leave your info with office, and in case there is a last minute cancel or problem, and you are there in town, Who know's?
The Inn at little Washington (VA) The Horned Dorset (UpState NY) St Elmo's ( IN) AMAZING steak. Murry's Steak house in (Mn).
1. Osteria Francescana, Modena, Italy. 2. Sushi Sawada, Ginza, Tokyo, Japan. 3. So many could go here. But none compare to the above.

Le Bernadin in manhattan - tasting menu with the wine. We did this back to back with Per Se and preferred it Pappas Brothers steakhouse in Houston Eddie Merlots down the street from me is a bit dated but they have an amazing Waygu. If you're in Shanghai the top of the can opener was really good but that was a long time ago.
1. The restaurant at the end of the runway, KL airport. It never had a name, and sadly is no longer there (restaurant and airport). Select your fish/crustacean from the fresh tank. Chilli Crab was the go to dish. 1986 2. Banana Beach, Pinel Island (St Martin) Lobster right from the ocean cage. March 2020 3. Da Michelle, Naples, Italy. Pizza. June 2007 Food can be exquisite anywhere, with 3 professional chefs in the immediate family it often is. Wine the same. Spend money get good wine. But atmosphere, food, wine, friends or family, conviviality, enthusiasm wrapped up in a single event are what makes great restaurants for me. Of those listed the prices for a complete meal with wine or beer as appropriate (updated to today's prices) per person: 1 $35, 2 $150 (this week), $ 9.
some of best food i've had has been small under the rader places in LA to have the best food you need to be near it and grow it locally if possible
Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at the Mandarin Oriental in London and then next night Le Jules Verne. It's cliche, but the experience was incredible.
Plume and Fiola are standbys in DC (hoping to get back to Fiola next month when my MIL is in town). We hit up Jean-Georges in NYC when it still had 3 stars but honestly....wasn't really 3-star impressed. Probably why they got downgraded shortly after. Don't get me wrong, it's still SPECTACULAR. But we easily had much better experiences at DC's one-star spots i already named just in the quality of the Somms alone. Le Cirque is fantastic as well if you're in Vegas. Excellent tasting menu. We were SUPPOSED to enjoy an evening at La Dame de Pic in London back in July before Tomorrowland, but...yeah. Oh well, next summer.
Last year I hunted all four species of Ibex in Spain and drove through all four quadrants of the country to get to their respective mountain ranges. I couldn't name one restaurant we visited but it was the most fantastic food I've ever eaten. Not one bad bite. Loved Granada....
Great to here that place is still in biz. Wife & I never made it, but we weren't big time F-driving oligarchs back in the day. Memphis is a great place for down-home cooking - BBQ, Southern, etc. - and our friends say it's diversified since then. Interstate BBQ, south of downtown, was our favorite...T
