I was ready to tune out after that horrible start by Verstappen, but LeClerc was still in the front. After dropping down to 9th from the front row, I didn't think he would even be on the podium, let alone win. Congrats Max, Red Bull, and specially Honda. They still have much to improve. I like Charles so felt bad for him. His maiden win will come sooner than later, that's for sure. and as for Elton, Toto and MB.... TROLOLOLOL!!
CL's move was smart, but Max learned front the previous lap and intentionally pushed him wide. The only reason he didn't get a penalty is because he "was in control". Damn unfortunate for Ferrari but they should have pitted CL later, so he had a better chance. Either way, he's the real deal. Hopefully with a bit more experience he'll be more aggressive.
I still don't understand why Ferrari didn't unleash LEC when he asked for more speed. Telemetry not withstanding, nobody knows how a car is performing in the same way the driver does. If he'd had a few more seconds in hand the result might have been different.
Congrats to Max. He certainly had the drive of the day, in spite of the incident. On to Silverstone...and Merc’s home meet.
He's super smooth and clean. Might be a temporary disadvantage against drivers like Max until he gets more experience, but I think he's faster. If Ferrari give him the car and fair strategy he's a future WDC.
Drivers will always ask for more Power no matter what... until they hear a bang behind them and then they complain about "No power" Gesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk
He is fast, and he looks calm and collected to me, so I would expect good qualifs and starting positions to begin. He is surely knocking at the door of his first win, after 2 painful déceptions so far, which he absorbed well. I hope he find a good drive to reflect his talent, and that may not be at Ferrari.
Regardless if MV had the pace to overtake CL, punting another driver OFF (with contact) the track is a penalty. You cannot make it up can you! Total farce. Tony
Different situation Vettel ran off the track and reentered unsafely. Here, Charles left the door open, Max got inside and has the racing line. Charles should have backed off. Understandably, in both cases they were racing for the lead so you can't really expect anyone to back off.
Was Leclerc stopped from having more power? If he wasn't I can only assume fuel was the big problem or engine was above max temp already....
Reminds me of "American Idol" when there was an online campaign to ruin the show by voting for the least talented guy. Which worked for a while and kept him in the game towards the end.
Chapter 1V - 2b However, manoeuvers liable to hinder other drivers, such as deliberate crowding of a car beyond the edge of the track or any other abnormal change of direction, are strictly prohibited. Pushing or other contact resulting in a lasting advantage is strictly prohibited. Any driver who appears guilty of any of the above offences will be reported to the Stewards So there you have the evidence that the FIA and stewards are full of it.
Max won fair and square...reminded me of racing in the 80s between Ferrari and Renault. Max carried his car across the finish line on his back, using all his skills and desires. And yes he had fresher tires. Charles was brought in for fresh tires a little earlier than necessary...but I don't think it would have made much of a difference. Perhaps the Ferrari strategy was too cautious on the final ten laps...perhaps they should have had Charles push the engine harder and go for all or nothing. It's all academic at this point. Lewis has just been eclipsed as the best driver in F1 by Max...with Charles already having passed Vettel and moving up fast on Lewis. This was the Ferrari team's best race this season and hopefully they will push even harder in two weeks.
