I saw one of those the other day in perfect condition. They look small compared to the huge trucks we have today. Can you imagine how much energy and pollution we would save if they cut down the size of the cars today and ran hybrid with small batteries(not full electric)!!! People really have lost concept with reality.

Thanks. That has been my personal design philosophy since Day 1.
That's why the next generation of designers sometimes drives me crazy.
Sometimes when I see some of the complicated/complex designs of today, I ask myself, how would I even sketch that?

I find myself thinking how come I'm not warped enough you think of putting all those random corners and fillets on grille openings, exhaust pipes, lights, etc.

My favourite fender skirt design.;). Damn clever, the bolt keeping the fender hooked is the same size as the wheel nut (no special wrench required).

Thankfully, I never had to change a flat on any of my Troons, however I can advise driving one at the ‘high’ setting is akin to gliding a Morgan +4 over cobblestones. ;)

Maybe T. P. can give his perspective on complicated / complex designing?!! His stock in trade, it would appear... :)

That’s a touchy subject as you might imagine.
Most designers have their own signature style much like fine artists, musicians and writers.
The goal is to satisfy the design requirements while remaining true to your own convictions and design beliefs.
It becomes difficult when one tries to please too many people.

Very subtle but still gets the point across, I like that idea.
Still, complicated certainly gives you more to chew on. While design lite sometimes leaves you perhaps hankering for an extra slice of apple pie!
My money is on complicated again this time.

I thought design was supposed to please customers?

So if customers want ugly, angry insect grills, they should get angry insect grills. But if they don't want them, they shouldn't be shoved down their throats by some designer. ;)

Sometimes it is difficult to please customers because they don't know what they want. A gentle push in the right direction is sometimes all it takes. Maybe extra time when you get 'out there' with a wild new design...
