This would also be good to know: Was there an update to address this issue? If so, what model year was it implemented?

I know the tech who works on my car at the dealership quite well ( we’re both EPL soccer fans ), I’ll dig deeper Monday.

Nothing Ferrari are very tight lipped about anything to do with gear box sensor issues.

Nothing about the reprogramming of the sensor?

    Hi Gents,

I am experiencing a similar intermittent problem on my FF. I had the battery replaced because I suspected it could have been an electrical voltage issue, however the Operation not admissible error code appears occasionally from 1st to 2nd gear when the vehicle is in AUTO mode - i have not noticed it in higher gears.

I am keen to hear more about the software update that was mentioned on earlier post.

    Regards,
    Ish

Had the same warning popping up a few weeks ago, when shifting from first to second gear - no matter if in manual or automatic.
Dealer checked the stored errors (P0501 and P2745) and said it's a faulty speed sensor.
Repair costs would be around 8k.

I contacted parkesperformance in the UK. They told me that it is a common problem (also the pressure sensors) with all cars that have the Getrag gearbox (see YouTube video Hollywood mechanic at 12min05sec).

So I will pay them a visit next year to have the gearbox overhauled.
Also the PTU will be reworked, as it is also prone to failure.

I will keep you updated when everything is done.

$8K for the speed sensor is a steal. My gearbox rebuild was over $20K. There’s a few other sensors that can fail as well so you should look into replacing all.

The 8k is for changing the speed sensors only. And I know that other parts are prone to failure too.

That's why I'm going to pay a visit to the UK.

Total costs (DCT and PTU rebuild, including modified parts) are estimated at 17,8k GBP plus VAT.

I don't see how £8k for a speed sensor change is a "steal".

It's a sensor change that could, and should, have been made much simpler.

I'm getting the dreaded symptoms of a speed sensor failure (red transmission light warning, sometimes resulting in no even gears - 2, 4, 6 and R) and in no way am I thinking that £8,000 (minimum) for a sensor change is good value.

Any update here from the people who had this problem fixed?

I just got the "operation not admissible" warning in my F12 Berlinetta 2013 … it happened after a hot start so the car was standing like 30mins after a longer drive and then after starting it again the message popped up on the left screen while driving out the parking space in 1st gear.

Is it really a faulty sensor or just a too high tranny temp after standing so long? I heard people got this error also after doing too many launch controls and the transmission overheating.

Maybe just changing the transmission oils will help as the oil is still the first from 2013 so over 12 years old already.

I am living in Dubai so the heat is definitely something the car doesn‘t like I have noticed.

    Thank you for any help!!!

I never got the 'operation not admissible' warning, but very occasionally used to get 'clutch overheated' warning flash up and then disappear. I just ignored it as it didn't seem to affect anything but in the back of my mind I knew it was impending a big issue.

Turns out it was one of the sensors in the DCT, and a few months ago I lost even gears (2, 4, 6 and R) and got the red tranny light warning. I turned the car off and restarted and all was fine, but it happened again a few weeks later and then pretty much every time I drove it although it got better when driven more which I thought was weird.

It was the even clutch pressure sensor (p0847 code), and I had it replaced along with temp and speed sensor. Total cost was over $10k, and this one really stung as it's a POS design and the sensor itself was like a couple of hundred (speed sensor was expensive though).

Other than occasionally losing gears, before it triggered gear changes were smooth and the car drove as expected, but the crappy sensor wiring had frayed from heat and the signal was compromised resulting in the lost gears and dashboard warning. It would be great if a software update could somehow increase the tolerances so the warning wouldn't trigger!
