I've searched everything I can think of, and haven't found a guide on how to remove the clock in a 328. Needless to say, mine isn't working. The fuse is fine as the radio and horn both work (and I checked the fuse) so I'm guessing I now need to get in to the clock to see if it's functional. And while I'm in there, maybe replace that surrounding dash piece because it's showing signs of cracking.

Off the top of my head I think it's just two or four black screws and the whole section will lift off the lower part of the dash assy then you can access the radio/clocks/ac vents etc, you'll need to get your body low down to see the screws I think, it's been a while since I removed mine.
Others feel free to chip in if wrong, good luck, someone on here can fix and fit a new front glass on your clock for you?? Great results.
Can't remember who, someone will let you know :)

I managed to remove mine through the radio slot. Once radio removed can reach up and undo the two screws that hold the clock, mine are two knurled screws so no tools required. Problem is getting it back in, very hard to reach in and replace the screws.
Mine was just a loose connection luckily, not sure if it is possible to take the clock apart without damaging it.

There are outfits that repair our clocks. Mine (328) quit about 10 years ago. I removed it and sent it off to a shop in S. Carolina. It's been running fine ever since. Sorry, but I do not recall how I removed it but it was not difficult else I would remember.

the clock is mounted with 2 others in the midconsole of the dashboard. The midconsole is very easy to remove via the 2 black screws on the bottom, see below picture. The clocks are just clamped with a bracket and secured with 1 or 2 round screws.

Thanks - seems your memory has been confirmed below - looks easy enough. Might consider throwing away the radio while I'm there - someone has put some modern multi-colored blinking satellite radio thing in there - looks awful.

Yeah - it's so easy to remove the console that you don't even have to see what you are doing - just feel underneath for the phillips-head screws and remove them.

Replace the radio with the flashing lights (usually blue nowadays for some reason) and put a period correct one in there. I did that with my 328 - wasn't hard to find a Blaupunkt from the correct period and didn't cost much on Ebay. I prefer having a period radio to the block-off plate because I actually DO use the radio! :)

I'm torn - the current radio is wired for Bluetooth and it looks like there's a microphone been installed too for hands free calling. Could be useful, as could the satellite radio. But I'd rather a period correct one too - perhaps an old Alpine. However, I've not used the radio since getting the car - I just listen to the sounds.

I can't disagree re the convenience of the bluetooth/etc. The fancy radio that was in my 328 could accept an SD card with iTunes music on it which was pretty neat! But I couldn't deal with the look. As far as the phone - not sure how well that would work in reality re engine noise but maybe...

I know I find it really handy in my DD (it's incredible how many times the CEO will ring me while I'm in the car!) but I agree re the look - it's gross. And it got itself into some disco demo mode the other day - I had to power it off quickly. I've not worked out how to tune it to a radio station, nor pair my phone, so maybe I will just rip it out. Might be a good excuse not to answer calls while driving :D
