We’ll be there for a couple nights late July. Any restaurant suggestions? Thanks.

Nothing stands out, we mostly ate on the open squares. Everything was fabulous. Avoid the tourist traps around the Ponte Vecchio. Places where everyone is speaking Italian is always a good give away.

Thanks, what we were thinking around open squares. We’re expecting busy and hot.

Was in Florence in May. I suggest II Latini for an old school local steak/pasta experience. It was fabulous! Also,Alimentari Uffizi. A small butcher/cheese shop that has a few tables. The owner is fabulous. He made my wife and I a beautiful meat/cheese/bread and wine combo for around $30 euros.

Our favorite is La Reggia degli Etruschi
It’s in Fiesole, a hillside on the NE side of Firenza.
Great food and a spectacular view of the city
    It’s our go-to place.

Another place we like is Parione, in the heart of the city, just off Ponte Carraia.
Don’t be put off if you see a lot of tourists there, locals like it too.
The pastas are good but the tagliata is phenomenal.

Looks great! For the end of July would you suggest inside or outside? Weather is variable, but any tips barring another heat wave?

I haven't been in 20 years, but we enjoyed just walking around and going in the small dozen table places. I don't remember any bad food, except steaks not up to Texas standards.

My daughter spent a semester in Florence and fell in love with gnocchi from Mamagina's. It was a block or two down from the bridge.

We have been there twice since, and it was really good for all items.

    Here is their website.

We’re planning for heat too and hoping for the best. Not planning on any museums, just go, kick back, and hang out.

I liked "Pandamonio", several blocks from the bridge. Had a great talk with the owners. As we left we saw a photo of them in front of the hotel Del in Coronado. This started another round of wine. we live ten miles from the del. Been there three times, loved it.

BTW you must try a chianina steak (Steak Florentina) if you never had one. Its a protected species of white cow . it is usually served rare and most places serve it as a 1 Kilo T bone. Most places will only serve it rare, but some places will make to order but not usually. OUTSTANDING DO NOT MISS

Their patio is covered so definitely outside. Eat late, after 7:30 when the sun goes down.
Inside, only the tables along the windows have a great view, and there’s not many (three IIRC)

Another place not to miss is a little cafe in the Piazza della Signoria. Don’t remember the name, Perseo? It’s right in front of the Furla store, they have a little outdoor area that’s covered. Good pasta and great people watching. Have a wine or spritz and watch the world go by.

Yes, Steak Florentina is excellent but you need two people to really enjoy it.

    Also the local soup Ribollitta.

AND Biscotti with Vin Santo. OMG.
