You might want to preface that with 'In your opinion' ;)
I'll wait and see what happens when they 'productionize' the design to meet all the requirements. That's where the rubber meets the road.

Sorry , but for me this car is plain ugly.
Rear is an abomination ( your words )
    Front a poor 330p4 copy.
    Just lazy designers.

Thank goodness someone said it. It is quite literally awful. That rear looks like it was created for some Batman-type B movie. And can you really see people driving a car like that as a series production vehicle? Not a chance.

They’re apparently only making 72 of them, so it’s not really a series production vehicle. I’d love to drive one. I’m a diehard Ferrari nut, but the P72 is jaw droppingly beautiful to me. Stylistically, the De Tomaso also seems to have plenty of “soul” which may be reflected in the fact that folks on this thread seem to love it or hate it. Who knows how it will really drive, but a NA V12 and manual gearbox fits the retro aesthetic, too.

This was in the Apple News feed this morning:

My company used to be the importer for De Tomaso into the UK. The Pantera (below) was a beautiful and engaging design so they do have history. There have been a few attempted restarts since, one I went to the preview for importers for a few years ago - an exec saloon after the Deauville line of the 80’s. This though, is no De Tomaso as far as I can see. More like an old Ferrari racer, a P4 or something, on steroids and not nearly as beautiful.

I’ve always respected your insights, and you have more direct experience with the De Tomaso heritage than me. Yet, Ferrari can venture so far off its traditional design aesthetic with certain aspects of the SF90, yet this De Tomaso is supposed to look more like the examples of yesteryear?

In the end, we all just like what we like. Just as with friends and partners. Can’t always put a finger on exactly why, even though we often do our best to rationalize it. We’re blessed with an abundance of current automotive enthusiast riches from which to choose.

If I imagine this De Tomaso in Rosso Corsa, with 800 hp Ferrari V12, 330 P4 style modern wheels.... my heart's a flutter. What a dream car that would be.

Would a nose this low comply with pedestrian impact safety regulations or are they exempt for being a low volume manufacturer? If so, it may answer why Ferrari can’t do a P4 inspired design (although they may in future non-road legal Icona variants).

Hope it has good aircon with the all the glass.

Like the styling.not too OTT , although the interior is 'interesting'.

But with that manual V12 all can be forgiven.

    Absolutely brilliant video.

Listening to him describe what Ferrari means to customers - what it should mean - is so spot on. But what is sad is when you compare this speech from just a few short years ago - and all the information contained within - against the cars Ferrari is making today. That's what is really startling. Doing that really underscores how badly things have derailed over the last few years and what a questionable path everything is heading down now. So much of what Mr. Motezemolo speaks of here has been lost in such a short period of time, it's very sad.

And now we have some goofy looking CEO at Ferrari who has made his mark by selling poison to the world. That's a public company for ya.

I'm sure it won't be too much longer until Ferrari comes out with an all electric SUV.

Handwriting is on the wall as far as I'm concerned. The CEO sells cigarettes. The SF90 looks like a bad Corvette makeover and none of the cars sound any better than a Honda Civic with an exhaust. Might as well buy a Tesla P100D and get ahead of the curve.

    Pitiful if you ask me.

Sad as it is, Ray, I concur with your sentiments. Spot on.

And yes, SUV = irreparable brand dilution + travesty

Drive Ferraris, buy Tesla stock. Problem solved and the world can live in harmony.

Can be the judge of which one seems more fun though (hint, it's the LaF)

Well, actually they plan on calling it an "FUV" (Ferrari Utility Vehicle), not an SUV.

Perfect name, actually, because it's definitely a big FU to many Ferrari enthusiast. As far as I'm concerned, it's the last nail in Enzo's coffin.

Skip to 35:22 in this video, and you can hear Luca's direct comments on "FUV"... This is recent, filmed November of last year:

Then at 39:52 he says: "German cars are perfect. Like a Freezer! No problems..."

(...but not passionate like a Ferrari SHOULD be)
