Ran into this all the time with home design. It was interesting to watch women in the kitchen after we moved the sink from the window to an island overlooking the family room. They knew something was different and they liked it, but they weren't sure what.

But we never did any "wild new design." My old partner says good design is felt, not seen.

Last Mustang photo, study 33, looks as though it was for the 78 Fox Mustang or Fairmont. Second half of the first S class photo resembles a DeVille, or perhaps a Lagonda.

I’m a Saab fan but somewhat neutral on Castriota’s designs.
Love this clip of Bangle critiquing a Saab concept at a car show with Castriota present... ahoohoohoo...lol
Believe JC was about to design the perfect choke hold at .55 ...

Today I pulled up next to a new black Lexus RX 350 at the stop light and noticed the chrome trim designating the "flying roof."

Unfortunately, it made me think of this!

Unintended consequences? Design concept definitely doesn't work in a positive way on black SUVs.

Very much, but the rear is really strange. Almost like he wanted to make it a boat tail. Shape is nice but I don't like the details. The interior is as weird as a Spyker and the wheels look cheesy. Maybe a cartoon version of a P4 :)

How could we. I did like a lot of his over the top but cool work. But alot of his stuff was done on a very tight budget. The new Detomaso looks like they spent a lot on the prototype(maybe all their money) :)

In the spirit of videos of futuristic cars in the 1950s, here is one from Chrysler I happened to run across today- the 1955 Ghia "Gilda" Streamline X.

Bentley has marked its 100th birthday today by unveiling a new concept car that previews the British brand’s future design language.

Shaped from the inside out and taking advantage of an all-electric platform, the “EXP 100 GT” imagines what an ultra-luxurious Bentley GT could potentially look like in the year 2035.

Made from a mix of lightweight aluminium and carbon-fibre, the design study measures 5.8 metres long and almost 2.4 metres wide, and is further enhanced by decorative features crafted from copper and aluminium, which are claimed to evoke founder W.O Bentley’s choice of materials to create the alloy for his famous BR1 Aero engine piston.

The driver and passenger doors are two metres wide and pivot outwards and upwards for access. Fully open, they rise to a total of almost three metres.

Other key exterior details include an illuminated matrix grille and Flying B mascot that come to life as the driver approaches the car, light playing across the grille, through the mascot and along the bonnet central spine of the car and into the cabin itself.

At the rear, a ‘horseshoe’ section of the boot is a 3D-capable OLED screen on which lighting effects can blend in with the rear lamps.

On the inside, Bentley’s designers have taken things to another level, with natural materials such as wood, leather and glass seamlessly blended with lots of lighting technology; the latter including a glass roof embedded with prisms that collect light and transfer it into the interior using fibre optics.

Additional tech features include transparent OLED information displays in the doors, automatically darkening glass, and a front entertainment screen for displaying films, live video and other media when the car is in autonomous driving mode.

Underneath, the EXP 100 GT’s battery system powers four motors that offer a 0-60 mph time of less than 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 186 mph and maximum torque of 1106 lb-ft.

Bentley engineers claim future battery technology will offer five times the conventional energy density, and therefore charging the car to 80 per cent of capacity will take only 15 minutes.

Weight will remain at roughly 1,900 kg and a range of 435 miles will be possible, they further assert.

“The Bentley EXP 100 GT represents the kind of cars we want to make in the future. Like those iconic Bentleys of the past, this car connects with its passengers’ emotions and helps them experience and safeguard the memories of the really extraordinary journeys they take,” says Bentley design boss, Stefan Sielaff.

“Today, on our Centenary, we demonstrate our vision of the future of our Marque, with the Bentley EXP 100 GT – a modern and definitive Grand Tourer designed to demonstrate that the future of luxury mobility is as inspirational and aspirational as the last 100 years,” adds company chairman and CEO, Adrian Hallmark.

Pretty sharp, and not gonna get out-grille'd. Dig the speedtail and Magoo headlights, too (kinda the anti-'76 GM?).
