I'm seeing some HUGE stickers out there for sitting inventory on 2018's.

Are these things moving? Not moving? Unrealistic asking prices?

    Have a friend with a '18, sub 900 miles, 1/1 TM car, with like a $445K sticker.

Low $400's would move it and on to the next thing, but I am seeing a lot of stagnation (though I'm a bit more in tune with more 'vintage' models)

Whats the current barometer? Are these going to sit around forever?

Your friend is being unrealistic. Tailor made options are such a specific taste usually that they dont carry over on resale. I dont think he will get within breathing room of low 400s or even high 300s. Thats my opinion not having seen what he specced.

There must be over 100 used 488s for sale in the UK, all with ultra low miles- i hear they are not moving and people prefer the 458 which is holding good prices.

All the money paid for the extra tailor made customization will yield $0 on resale and will hamper is at it's too specific for buyers on the secondary market.

Keep in mind some buyers purposely inflate vehicle MSRPs to build additional history/favor with their dealer. Dealers and Ferrari make a lot of money selling cars, but they make a killing on options. 70th anniversary cars are a big example of this.

I would have to bend the steering column to get the steering wheel on the correct size anyway.

Hard to move those thru the dealer...maybe mid 300's if lucky, but likely ~$310k to make a sale. Those 70's were the last kiss of death by Ferrari before they changed the game.

Yes, it has the logo shown on the photo, that's why I mentioned it in my prior comment.

Maybe work a large consignment fee, where the dealer will use the car as an entry point for another buyer to purchase a Pista, as they did for Lussos and flavors of the month.

That''s OK. You haven't really owned a Ferrari unless you've "lost" a couple hundred K on one. The four rubber things go round and round actually enabling the vehicle to move. :)

    Lol, that's AWFUL.

Guess it's all relative. I'm no big player, take some zero's off that few hundred K lost, and I'll still be hurt.

Thank god it's not my car. I want to help him sell it, but even if he went to $400K even (which currently is his "lowest") there's no way at this juncture (I think he's been trying to move this for 2 years...)

In the current market, at $400k even your friend will sit on it for another 20 years :)
Ask @Bundy, he recently sold his TM 488. The answer will definitely not make your friend happy.

    I just sold a 488 with a 329k Msrp. It was a 16. 5000 miles.

Your friend is in La la land if he thinks he is going to get anywhere close to 400k.

It’s a coupe and tailor made is a synonym for I have bad taste and money to burn. It’s his configuration and no one else cares about the 5 grand he paid to have his stitching int he seats a special color.

He will get sub 300k. Keep the car or take a bath. But 400k??? No chance. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Actually, my 488 GTB wasn’t Tailor Made. It was a nicely spec’d Grigio Titanio with tons of CF which sadly brings little on resale. MSRP $345K and sold for $260K at Ferrari of Atlanta with only 320 miles. Took 7 months to sell. Supply >> demand on 488’s.

Unfortunately, many of the 1/1 70th Anniversary models were not well received and arguably way overpriced to start with. Folks felt compelled to accept the “honor” of being allocated a 70th example to juice their rankings.

I’d like to think that my Blu Simond over taupe TM 812 isn’t done in poor taste as some have alluded about all TM specs. But I see the point. TM is fun but honestly makes little sense financially if you don’t plan to keep the car for many years. Almost like a really cool custom home.

Your numbers sound very similar to mine in terms of my 488 except I drove it for 2.5 years and put 5000+ miles on the car.

I should have driven my 488 more. Purposefully kept the miles down because I knew it was an interim car in pursuit of the Pista. It’s the first time I’ve ever put less than 5,000 miles on any car. Did nothing for resale.

Think about it from the buyer's perspective. Is a buyer seriously going to pay $150K extra over a non Tailor Made 488 because a particular 488 GTB has a custom interior customized by someone else? Because that's what your friend is expecting with that insane "bottom price".

Taylor Made only makes sense for a LONG term keeper, say 20+ years of ownership. Otherwise it's money down the toilet. Amazed that this reality is just starting to sink in now ....

No argument from me on any of this, I think he's been trying for 2 years to sell it.

    Also, has a 812, wants $400-410 range too, a 2019 with 800 miles

I had the same conversation, and non of it sinks in.

I don't like when people respond with "I don't NEED to sell"

Great, then enjoy ownership for the next 10 years...Of a depreciating asset. Don't listen to me, I'm usually great at nailing current market prices for people, they just don't want the ugly truth and reality...

Maybe the guy is taking the hits in order to get a limited car down the line ? in which case it might even pay off ...well eventually?
