Leaked letter suggests Haas concerned by Rich Energy

    Silverstone, UK

    Thomas Maher  • 6 hours ago 0 1 minute read

British Grand Prix – A letter apparently expressing Haas’ concerns with the ongoing liquidity and viability of the Rich Energy company has been released by the company’s Twitter account.

The Rich Energy twitter account has leaked a letter, that appears to have been sent by the Ebury Partnership agency on behalf of the Haas F1 team, to Neville Weston, a minority shareholder with Rich Energy.

There appears to be an ongoing struggle for power and control over the drinks company this week, with CEO William Storey apparently in control of the Twitter account while the company itself attempts to keep its sponsorship deal with Haas intact.

Storey is a majority shareholder of Rich Energy and took to Twitter yesterday to brand the company’s attempts to distance itself from earlier tweets as ‘a palace coup’. The tweet sent from the Rich Energy account shows a letter, dated the 11th of July, that was supposedly sent from the Haas’ agent to Neville Weston.

It says “We act on behalf of Haas, who have asked we write to you following your email to Guenther Steiner yesterday”.

“We understand you are seeking to take control of Rich Energy away from Mr. Storey, the current CEO. If that comes to pass, we are happy to engage in conversations with you provided clear evidence that Mr. Storey has been removed as a director and a new CEO has been validly appointed.

“Given the information available through Companies house, including its shareholder base, we are somewhat at a loss as to how you will be able to wrest control of the company.”

“Furthermore, there is the outstanding claim for damages against Rich Energy for copyright infringement in relation to its logo so our clients (Haas) are rightly concerned about the solvency/ongoing viability of the company.”

Haas need to walk away from this now. A waste of space on the car. It is a detriment for Haas to be associated with this joke company

Unpaid legal costs add to Haas F1 team sponsor Rich Energy's saga -- https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/144750/unpaid-legal-costs-add-to-haas-sponsor-saga

Whyte Bikes, which was involved in a copyright-infringement case with Haas's title Formula 1 sponsor Rich Energy, is considering taking steps to recover legal costs that are now overdue.

In May, Whyte won its action against Rich Energy, its CEO William Storey and logo designer Staxoweb over the use of its stag's head logo. A subsequent court order confirmed that the three defendants should pay costs of £35,416 by July 11.

That deadline was not met, and Whyte said on Friday that in order to recover the money it was awarded its options could include submitting applications to wind up Rich and Staxoweb, and petitioning for Storey's bankruptcy.

A statement from Whyte noted: "On June 27 2019 the High Court in London made various orders against the defendants, Rich Energy, William Storey and Staxoweb. One of the orders was that they should pay to Whyte (ATB Sales) costs totalling £35,416 by 11 July 2019.

"The defendants have failed to pay any of the costs award. Each of the defendants is jointly liable for the whole amount of costs awarded.

"ATB will now be forced to take appropriate action to recover the costs that they have been awarded. This may include applications to the Court to wind up both Rich Energy and Staxoweb and to petition for the bankruptcy of Mr Storey."

The missed payment deadline came the day after Storey is alleged to have used Rich's Twitter account to announce that the Haas sponsorship deal had been terminated, a move that was subsequently challenged by Rich's shareholders

Apparently they use this co-packer/private label company from Austria. Which probably means they use a generic formula. o_O

    https://www.starzinger.at/en/private-labelling/flexibility/sizes/

The site mentions they can do minimum runs of 12000 cans which probably explains why it's hard to find.

As per jalopnik story details and their useless PR team that spends time attacking others being a private label makes sense.

So it appears that Storey has stolen the JPS colors, the Whyte Bike logo, the Red Bull product and Magnus Walker’s look.....

Haas should consider leaving F1 if this sponsorship is acceptable. Haas are the new joke of an F1 team.

It seems Haas are going through a bad patch this year.
Their car don't perform as well as last year's on, they had 5 retirements, Grosjean misbehaves, and Magnussen gets penalties.
On top of that, their title sponsor is a joke, who brings trouble.
What more could go wrong ?

A drink company that doesn't make its own drinks is a perfect match for a racing team that doesn't make any racing parts. The only thing either company can do is put its own stickers on someone else's product.

I think Gene needs to start sacking people, starting with Steiner, then RG and KM. Bring in Alonso and someone who can actually run a team. Hire George Russell away from Williams and then get back to being the best of the mid-field. Good grief, this whole team is becoming an epic embarrassment.
