Sad thing is— it will be returned to the market w little said about floor repair... but that’s par for the course in used cars.

If they had bought the OEM panel and removed the old rivets, then glued and re-riveted it in to OEM quality, I might be more accepting personally.

As it is, if the car gets into an accident in the future and someone is injured... he can and probably should be sued for the "repair". You can't label it a "repair". That implies OEM quality and structural integrity. I have a real issue with half-*** repairs on unibody cars.

TJ Hunt's completed and Goonzquad's in-progress 458 rebuilds are pretty entertaining and nice to see them using new parts if not reusable parts from a Ferrari scrapyard.

Samcrac's Lambo front frame/crumple zone repair was horrible and as vrsurgeon says will expose himself to a potential lawsuit in the event of a crash in the future even if he sells it off to someone else. Those cars need to stay as off-road use vehicle only.

Not sure what Tavarish is doing...seems to get 2 new project cars each time before finishing 1.

There's a nice looking yellow 360 in the background of Street Bandito's builds with CS panels, but not sure what that's about. Wish they featured it.

You are the only person on the planet that I know that has any expertise on these ECU's...
I hope you're training apprentices and other people to carry on your knowledge and work!

Just curious then, what do you hypothesize they did to got his car running?

I've spent considerable time developing specialist firmware analysis tools now so I can not only instrument Bosch ecu's but also do it automatically without having to resort to manually pattern matching of known tables which is all a glorified tool like WinOLS does (as used by pretty much entire tuning industry).

Anyway, as for what they did, pretty much just a 'cut and paste'. They simply used a commercial tool which I recognized to backup Samcracs original ecu and copy it (eeprom and flash) to another. Basically so same software runs on BOTH banks (both ecu's). That's it.

Couple of points worth raising here if anyone has similar issue. As it wasn't disclosed I don't know if they charged him or commonly charge others for supply of another ecu (or if its common practice for them to do this). In this case both ecu's are just fine. In Samcracs case it was just a software mismatch, so he should have just been charged for a re-flash service only and not charged for another ecu.

Seems in the latest episode he also fitted a new immobilizer box with some sort of signal amplifier fitted. When I had the factory system fitted i never had a problem with range as shown on his latest video. In fact as long as the yellow cable was positioned correctly I could get the same range from the original as he boasted about in the video. The fact he couldn't get reception on his old unit from outside the car clearly shows a problem, not a standard issue we all faced. If the central yellow antenna wire isn't properly located you will get issues. I can only assume someone else put the wire behind the metal shield acting which made his problems occur.

Yeah that repair was just dumb. And he caught a lot of flack for it in the comments as well. I’m like everyone else, why not source a passenger floorboard and rig weld it in? I mean really this is a Ferrari that for its day hauled butt, not a farm truck. I’m having a lot of issues with his builds lately. Goon squad I still enjoy. Those kids do good work.

Az- why didn’t Sam just have the al tig welded! Super easy access. Nothing complex. And prob not a load bearing element except for human feet.

I cringed watching those rivets... uggh. Bass boat repair. He should redo it!!!!!!

I thought he originally thought that was what he was going to do, or should I say have done. When I saw him slather panel bond on a sheet of aluminum and rivet it on I was just dumbfounded. I thought he even mentioned having it welded. Would have looked better had he done that.

I can see it now, more people that have no business repairing a Kia let alone a Ferrari snapping up wrecked cars and glueing sheets of aluminum on then complaining they can’t flip the car. His attitude of repair as cheap as possible is just sick. I’ve lost a lot of what little respect I had for him.

The Lambo would not pass inspection at least here in Canada and I would suspect that the same can be said for the Ferrari.

However, it is entertaining to watch these guys when they show special finds like the guys who fix those electronic boxes. That was interesting and educational.

Anyway, it’s always buyer beware when it comes to used. Get it inspected! Always.

I think it’s viewed as compassion for lower economically challenged people... but there is a safety aspect to consider. Compassion vs safety.

Well, I put off watching the video until now. Not overly surprised he didn’t figure it out. And there were items he just didn’t check including the stinking timing belt and tensioners. Not saying that’s what it is but boy it would sure be funny if the freaking timing belt tensioners were completely worn out. I also don’t recall if he did the injector learn procedure or not after reinstalling the “flashes” ecu’s either. But it’s starting to look like it’s not an easy fix as he thought.

Oh and I’m not even going to go there on the whole rant about his floor repair. It’s ugly, it was a bandaid, and was just lazy.

I guess the only positive to come of this is that the truth about buying and fixing a Salvage title Ferrari is not as easy or profitable as the pipe dream is.
So in essence, his audience gets the same reality check as he does.

I bought an old Z car like that once...the panel was bondo'd in . NOT BONDED, BONDO'D.

I cut it all out and did a better floor fix with a stamped repair panel.

Sam makes me cringe...I'm not even entertained by it.

There are a few things that you just need to understand the car to "get". The first being, if you are getting a "miss" or rough running engine and you have an OBD2 reader.. the assumption is that a miss will show up on the reader. It won't on the 360. Coil packs will intermittently fail and lead to a rough running engine. You just have to know when to replace them. Going the injector route is over diagnosing it. Bad coil packs until proven otherwise. If too cheap to buy new coils packs, you can't afford the car.

Then the other issue that most newbies won't get.. is the car is DESIGNED to require an SD2 for diagnosing some systems. Specifically the F1, ABS, and Suspension systems. You can get lucky and throw parts at it, like a new brake switch and/or F1 pump.. but to know what is broken and isolate it, you need the Sd2.
