Nice! I'm not in the market currently, sorry to give you that impression. Have just been enjoying the progress you've been making and looking forward to watching the auction. Good luck with it, it looks like a great car in a great color combo.
No worries and thanks for the kind words. Just wanted to share it FINALLY making it on BaT lol (I think I paid for its acceptance in March lol)
common guys let the bidding begin. Last I heard is no more GT4s being produced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! G L W S
I can't "like" your post mainly due to my disappointment in that final price, but hopefully he does good things with it.
Ken, I'm curious....Did BAT pressure you with respect to your reserve, either during the listing process or during the auction? I have heard this from other BAT sellers. Thanks. Jack.
Not this time. But certainly in the past on a few they have. It’s always a fight. This one ironically I set AT $41. I didn’t expect it to sell at that but they didn’t give me any hesitation accepting that reserve lol. Guess we know why!
I didn't mean to offend you. I think the car could have brought a few thousand more but sorting it out takes that off the table.
No offense taken Dan, as my good friend said to me Saturday night, "this was a horse that could've kept eating, time to move on" Ironically, I went back to an email from a close friend in 2014 last night, and may of found another GT4 to work on! Lol, maybe I have issues (this one's Red/Black Boxer trim).
I wish you all the luck. I can't wait until I start seriously looking for one. Ken, I see you are from Connecticut, I have a very good mechanic from the Alfa Club here on Long Island that could do a PPI if needed on a car that you find.
Thanks Dan. Ironically again, my yellow GT4 is headed to California, and this Red/Black one is IN CA now too hah!
I was the lucky winner! I love, love, love this car. I have added new muffler and rear header, new purtronix ignition and coils. Tires are on order. I spent a lot of time of the carburetors, I took them apart and measured the jets. They were all fat...over carb'ed for sure. I put them back to stock settings. My mechanic worked on these cars when they were new. He reset the timing and it truly is a monster. Before the tires get here I plan on a front suspension rack rebuild, tie rods etc. I have found a guy who sells new and used parts on the cheap. Makes it a lot more fun to work on when you can afford the price of the parts. The sound in fourth gear right under red line is intoxicating.
OMG she in muy hermosa. .......! love the BB Boxer paint scheme. Ken, are your Cam Drive Cogs plastic or aluminum......? Whew,,, I know she is gonna sell. But, I need another year, to wait before I should get a 308gt4. ( toys are a luxury,,,,,) Eduardo
Bryan, Congrats on the purchase of the GT4. FYI, when it comes to stock jet settings for 308.... I had to recently increase the enrichment of idle and main jets to get my 78 GTS to drive great and pass smog. Luckily, you do not have to pass a smog test since it is a 1975. At stock settings, it would not burn all the HC. The factory intentionally set the settings to pass smog in the USA based on the gas during the 70’s. Unfortunately, the fuel in California is not the same as the 70’s and is a lean mixture due to all the California requirements / additives. This is why only a few refineries supply the California gas and it costs more. Luckily, you also have a good mechanic to help sort the carb settings. I have a local shop which helped to tune my settings. Enjoy!!!
Can we stop commenting on this thread? It makes me sad because I don't own this car anymore. But Bryan is exactly the type of owner who will get this car to the next level, and has been doing so (he still updates me! fwiw, there wasn't rust.
