Just thought I would post this for anyone wondering if they can wash their car cover.

Like me you probably have a panick attack at the mere thought of shrinking or fading your lovely fitted $AUD 1000 car cover if you wash it. Many send them off to the dry cleaners instead which you can do at considerable expense.

Reading what posts there are plus looking up all the laundry symbols on my Brandart cover (original factory) and given it is 100% polyester I decided to give it a go.

Normal wash cycle, cold water using ‘Cold Power’, spin dry and then just lay it out flat (label says do not tumble dry).

Worked a treat with no shrinkage, no fading. In fact the red shine of the material looked better. All marks/stains gone. I thought it was pretty clean anyway but wow was the washing water black when I did it. Well worthwhile doing.

Great insight. Nice one. Trying to buy these online for less than A$1500 these days is a nightmare

Yeah they are ridiculously over priced. You can go to www.Brandart.com themselves but won’t have the Cavallino symbols on it.

    Washed mine today.
Placed cover in my bath tub with warm water, added a eucalyptus wool wash (I know it's not wool but a very gentle detergent), washed just using my hands, rinsed with clean water, spun dry in the machine, lay out over my kitchen table to dry.
Came out better than new !!

I spent $3.50 in quarters for the larger machine, some liquid soap and another $2.00 in quarters for tumble dry and yanked it out early but totally dry.

Pristine condition— I’ll use no heat or hand dry next time. ( I better be careful it might shrink up and only fit a 3x8 car)

Well done to all. The 'Dry Clean' only myth is well and truely smashed now I think !

    Happy washing to all ;)
