^ Should have done more jalapeños.

LOL. Three were ready, another 3 or 4 should be ripe in a week or so.
You'd like these, they're hot as heck - even pickled and smoked.

Last few days just salads. Pretty boring. Tonight's my cheat night, cheeseburgers and poutine at Triple O's.

Another lunch that ended up as dinner.
While driving around, I noticed a small Italian place in a small town of Krum, called Porto Fino. :D
That sounds Ferrari-worthy. One of my wife's friends lives in Krum, and told her it was good -
so the wife & I went on a lunch date. In the truck, not the F-car.

Spaghetti & meatballs - what I always order @ any new Italian joint I try out.
It was OK, not as good as grandma's, of course, but not bad.

Lasagna. Wife ordered this. Likewise decent, and a large portion. We finished these off for dinner with a small salad.

Soup! Turnips, onions, beef broth (made from the leftovers & bone of that tomahawk chop from a few days back), the usual spices. Add in some roasted garlic. Pureed some tomatoes and a smoked jalapeño from the garden, strain off the pulp. Simmer. Garlicky!

Just salads since my last post...……… I might break my diet tonight. Thinking pizza with my brother. I'm also craving DQ blizzards, so might do DQ instead.

I was craving a Blizzard too. Yesterday. I think driving past a DQ billboard in 100+ F heat may have had something to do with it. I fought it though, and passed, so I'm counting on you Max!

Instead, I invested my calories in a Greek pizza from a place, Santorini, I stumbled across when doing some research when F-chatter Tamas visited a few months ago. It's in the small town of Gainesville, and has pretty good reviews on Google, Yelp, etc.

Greek pizza. Has maters, feta, olives, gyro meat, spinach. It was really good. Chatted up the manager while waiting for our pie; Santorini have a BYOB policy, which I like! Now to find some retsina and head back.

I’ve never had a “short loin tail”, but Bryan Flannery threw some in with my order a few weeks ago. These were unreal...as tender as the best filet and full of flavor (due to the dry aging I’m thinking).

Served for Ania’s 35th Birthday tonight with her favorite meal of beef filet, grilled corn and grilled potato. Drank a 2003 chateau lagrange from st julien.

Great meal, great setting and a great lady to share it with. She baked some “chocolate crinkles” for dessert.

Oh, our resident momma dear and her two 4-week old babies came by to wish Ania a happy birthday too :)

    Life doesn’t get better imho...

    You're kicking life's butt, AzIt! :)

Never heard of that bit. From Flannery URL, it sounds like it is the bit of the
tenderloin that juts into the short loin. Pic below.

Most importantly, Happy 35th B-day to Ania!!

I did sushi, sashimi and chopped scallop rolls last night. Back to salads for tonight. Craving another Blizzard, so might get a small one for desert!

Pizza on the gasser. Not as good as the oven, but I didn't have to heat up the house. Topping is a mix of cucuzza, onion, garlic, tomatoes & red bell pepper. Sautéed first. Add some mozz, top with basil and oregano. The topping was supposed to be pepperoni, but to quote the wife "I ain't going to Kroger." ☹️ So, it's veggie sausage.

About 10 min in the Weber Q. Not bad all in all.

Invited my fly fishing guide over for dinner after a long and fun day on the river. He's a former chef and beef lover, so I took a couple of the Flannery Short Loin Tails out of the freezer and served with some cous cous (with cumin, lemon juice and cilantro) and grilled zucchini with lemon pepper:
