Hey Everyone, a long-time member here, have not posted in a while. I am trying to get some information on a 1988 328 GTB TURBO 1. From what I gather there was 308 of these made and they were all for the Italian market. Do we know how many were imported into the US? 2. Are the ones that were brought into the US considered grey market? 3. Any idea on what the value of these cars are? I am sure there is a wide range. I did some searching and found some info on the forum but the info about the Turbos seems to be limited. Thanks Duane
Our specialist of the Turbo cars on this forum is "AlbertLP", he even wrote a (very nice) book about these. 1. The official designation of the car is not "328 GTB Turbo", but simply a "Turbo" (sometimes "Turbo Intercooler"). There were indeed 308 "Turbo GTBs" built, and 828 "Turbo GTSs", originally all sold new in Italy (and a very, very small number in Portugal and perhaps in Greece it seems). None were exported to the US by the factory. Remember they all have the two-valve engine, not the "Quattrovalvole" (four valve per cylinder). 2. None was imported in the US through official/federal channels; the small number of cars there today could indeed be considered grey market. 3. I don't think there is a sufficient number of cars in the US today for a sample in prices sufficient to create "a market". "AlbertLP" would be able to tell you how the are stacked against a standard 328 in Italy, price-wise. Rgds
Great info, so it would be safe to assume the odometers arein KM not miles? The car I am posting a picture of would technically a 308 Turbo GTB? Image Unavailable, Please Login
As nerofer said GTB Turbo was sold new in Italy so withj the odometers in KM. And this car is based on 328 with a 2.0 turbo engine
No: as written on the rear panel, it is a "GTB Turbo"; cousin to the 328, not the 308. With the 2 litre, two-valve engine and an intercooler. The "208 Turbo" (cousin to the 308 qv) does not have an intercooler... Buy Alberto's book... Rgds
James Glickenhaus added one to his collection in NYC. He no longer is "here" but not hard to find on Facebook and a very nice chap....(to me anyway) The body, sheet metal and interior components are as posted more 328 than 308. It's a much later car made fir the Italian market for tax reasons. I think properly running they do not give away much, recalling that the NA 308 2V injected were not exactly "road burners"...
Hi, ten years ago I started a thread on these cars in the Showroom section. I think you can find useful informations. Ciao. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/208-the-only-italian-models.265547/ Sent from my ANE-LX1 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The official name is "GTB turbo"- it's a 328 GTB with a 254 Hp two litres turbocharged engine and some minor mods. 308 units were made of the GTB turbo, 828 units of the GTS turbo, from 1986 to 1989. Here in Italy the prices are the same as 328. Abroad they cost more than a 328. Excellent car, in my opinion: I consider the GTB turbo the best car of the 3x8 family, while the early 208 GTB turbo (1982-1985) is the best looking of them all and the first Ferrari turbocharged road car ever. Always just my personal opinion, of course.
