Has there been any evidence to say that Ferrari exceeded the 499 number for 16Ms? (past history not withstanding ;) )
BTW, in reading Michael Sheehans past article about 599 Aperta production numbers, he goes into some detail about limited production Ferraris. He gives an unsubstantiated number of 2000 430 Scuderias produced (assuming an additional 499 16Ms produced). You can read the entire article here: https://ferraris-online.com/how-many-599-sa-apertas/

sheehand just provides a collared estimate of a high and low numbers. inferring that he is factually stating there were 2k scuds is aggressive.
no evidence of 750 other than 16Ms prices have never traded like they were limited to 499.

im not even sure what we are debating anymore - generally the 360 has an X factor which gets more respect from most enthusiasts - its been called the poor mans f4o etc. the scud does everything better at anything measurable but doesnt command the dollars/homage the CS does. Scud owners scream blasphemy when people say they like the CS better. The 16M if produced at 499 units, in my opinion, wld have shown different price action from the launch, and yes it came out in 09 when the world has almost ended.

All this about the world moving on... More complicated computers required to manage the traction. Makes me feel sad to be honest.

I'd say its created cars that require much less skills, they demand less from the driver and so what if they are faster? My 700hp+ Mclaren may be much faster than my 360 but its nowhere near as raw and visceral, if I had to choose I'd keep the 360..its more fun and requires more concentration and ultimately gives me a bigger smile on my face.

My math shows most CS's being wrecked and totaled. How many produced isn't the question....... How many still exist is the question. Nobody cared much for the CS when it was produced. They weren't coveted until folks realized how few were built.

He’s from the UK, the second biggest market in the world for Ferrari, not a tiny market. The UK is a distinct market to the rest of Europe as it takes RHD cars (the rest of Europe is LHD). An extrapolation based on a brand’s second biggest market is relevant. 478 out of the 2119 manual 360 Spiders sold worldwide were UK RHD, 119 out of 1288 CS, 457 out of 3083 550s and 352 out of 2630 360 Modenas, a few examples.

This goes back to me reiterating what Mr. JWW said in his youtube videos when reviewing the F40 and Scud... "Going forward is going backwards."

Its frankly laughable that that you all trust Ferrari with the 1 of 80, 1 of 500 numbers etc without Ferrari having to match chassis numbers, are you all totally stupid ?? I am just asking the obvious question, call your lawyer immediately

Laughable that you are accusing everyone here that we trust such numbers....as anyone said or confirmed that we in fact do?

I think with respect to everyone, this is a language thing. Richard seems a smart and knowledgeable chap, as does everyone else in this discussion. In German (and a few other Euro languages) you can say things which sound much harsher when directly translated into English. English has many nuanced ways of saying things that are very hard to translate into.

You dont understand the collector market. You understand the new car market. 430 Scud is becoming a collector car.

Apologies for any inference I was including myself in those people being dumbly misled by Ferrari, 115 F430's for sale in Switzerland, 39 are Scuderia's, that is an incredibly high % for a future classic (not disagreeing that it should be one, just noting what Mr Market is telling us). In 2016 at one point there was only 7 and its in these last 3 years that optionality at this price point has exploded & maybe it just is not 200% of a good F430 for $100k, which are selling or better than a F12 which is also available for 200k ?

I don’t think the Scud is anywhere near collector car status .... yet.
It may be another 10-20 years before we see a Scud appreciate to high value.
In the meantime I’ll continue to just enjoy driving my 16M - almost 20k Miles on mine

There are way too many Scuds around. Sure they have built around 3000, this is the ballpark figure I have always read and I believe to be realistic.

Ferrari even self-built many hundreds of SCUDs without orders after the 2008/9 financial crisis, these largely had a 2 tone interior
