Mine are all the down on top of the seatback and I don't seem to be able to pull them up (extend them) Do I need to apply some more muscle or do they not adjust up or down?

They do adjust. Just pull harder.

If you wiggle it on its side while pulling up, it will move.

Just reviving an old thread to advise that everyone should check their headrest height- from 308 to 328 owners.

The headrests were pushed down to their lowest height from the factory to make it easier to wrap the seats in the plastic bag for shipping but were intended to be pulled up by the customer on delivery.

Very few owners do this as they are unaware they actually are designed to rise up. They just need a good pull to get them to move, especially if they have been stuck in the lowest position for decades.

Unless you are very short, if you are god forbid involved in a rear end accident you are less likely to incur whiplash or worse. Anyway just a thought, I have advised many owners over the years.

Also, judges appreciated seeing that I had raised the headrests exposing the stunning chrome struts that are hidden within the seats.

There is a spot on the back that you can push so can easily raise the headrest, not sure exactly where, maybe someone here can point it out exactly where.

For my 328 I just slipped a tea towel under the headrest and just pulled it up from both ends.
Had to use a minor amount of silicone spray (not WD40) on one seat to get it moving.
Taking the targa roof off helped with access.

The purpose of that is for removal of the headrest completely, but not necessary for height adjustment.

Correct Martin, guys use my method mentioned above.

    My headrest at maximum height.
    Safer and looks great.

(can just make out my horse) :)

I actually found a picture from my Leatherique restoration in 2001.
My thumbs are where the release mechanism is located :) (headreast already released. It can't be so high in normal use)

Guessing the snow was after the fact given the dash is covered with snow and none under the vehicle.. either way, hard to look at

On second glance, looks like he was basically run over. Doors pinched closed and cut the roof off to free occupants.

There's a newspaper article. Unfortunately in german. Happened in Germany a few years ago. Italy registered car. According to this, the driver changed lanes and hit the brakes in front of a truck, since there was some garbage lying around on the Autobahn. Truck driver couldn't react quick enough. Driver was alone. No passenger. Since he talked about problems with his back, the rescue crew decided to cut off the roof.
I think it's a difficult job to release an injured person from a GTB.

BTW. The car - a Euro carb drysump- now belongs to an FChatter, who plans to rescue it.

Seriously. I don't know whether I'm allowed to post the pictures which show the current state, and my friend is hard to contact while working abroad over the summer. But I can state, that after removal of the most damaged parts it's no more looking that worse. A lot of parts are sourced.
Maybe I can convince him to tell a bit here about the project, when he's back and begins with the reproductions of the 'Decisions, Decisions'-poster, we discussed on FChat a few weeks ago :) It's the same buddy.

Rescue it ? I'd say it needs to be put out of it's misery.
That my friend, at best, would be a parts car.
The chassis would be twisted like a pretzel.

Imagine one day buying this car and seeing the photo of it damaged.
You would go as white as the snow falling on the car. :)
