    I have a question... I vapor blasted the aluminum castings for the cooling system shown here in (#8 & #51)... were these parts ever painted or treated from the factory? They seem a little pores to me. Suggestions welcomed.

    Nothing on these engines had paint other than the crank pulley, plenum and starter motor.

    Welcome to the world of classic Ferrari castings Rob! I used soda blasting to clean my parts and it seemed to close up the pores a bit, glass beads or small shot at low pressure may be even better. The rear valve cover of my '79 was very porous and the block and timing cover were pretty amateurish castings.
