It's been a few years since I posted photos of the IMSA sportscar races at Road America so here you go. They also had a C8 in a new brown color on display. I saw a few photos at RA from last August of a C8 race version testing in camo, but no one will confirm anything as usual.

Great photos I’ve been watching my recording of this race— that 09 yellow car is a Lambo?

  6. Didn't Pat Bedard drive one in the RS series (years prior to his mega wreck at Indy)?
    ,
However, gimme Team Highball and their Gremlins, which inspired me to buy a '74 Gremlin X, "think up" and "build" a "sleeper" sports car. :)
(for you Tp: re-routed vacuum (smog) hose stock 4.2 six (258 C.I.) , coil-over "helper" springs (set to kick in at normal ride height) on Sears heavy duty shocks all the way 'round, and local (Lake Park, FL) Addco Sway Bars (yeah, I know, anti-roll bars, but that's what they called 'em) front and rear. ';) 'Was a true sleeper as that 3 on-the-floor, stump pulling six really did pull and pretty stiff chassis handled really well :)....'til someone ran a red light near the FtL Swap Shop and totalled the front end. :()

Ah yes....an awesome sight. Racer Walsh, that's a few years ago. Fun times and really good racing even for the guys on a budget.

Kudos to you BHW. :) You do realize that is an IMSA Pinto? Even the poor could run in a drug smugglers series! :p

R/S series wasn't rich enuff for the smugglers..... :p
However, Team Highball ran one o' their 2 cars in the '75 24 after the prelim R/S race...finished 17 th overall of 51 entries; 12th in GTO (R/S Gremlin hadda run top class as it wasn't under (GTU) 2.5 litres which were themselves much faster than an R/S car....it woulda' been 5th in class had it been allowed to run as GTU. ;)
'95% sure....(obviously) not positive tho'. My minds eye sees a pinto with C&D plastered on it.

edit: Ah-ha. Google is one's friend. Note the R/S sticker.... :)

    And from: https://jalopnik.com/why-the-ford-pinto-didnt-suck-5785674 :
    "Pinto Racing Doesn't Suck
Back in 1974, Car and Driver magazine created a Pinto for racing, an exercise to prove brains and common sense were more important than an unlimited budget and superstar power. As Patrick Bedard wrote in the March, 1975 issue of Car and Driver, "It's a great car to drive, this Pinto," referring to the racer the magazine prepared for the Goodrich Radial Challenge, an IMSA-sanctioned road racing series for small sedans."

Agreed. A case of more moola than brains, methinks...

Love the articles. Thanks ! I loved the Pinto. It was cheap and fun to drive. My first came with the 1.6 crossflow. That got promptly removed in favor of a Twin Cam. (Lotus would be so proud. It came out of a Cortina.) Faster than hell and drove small block chevy guys nuts. I ran the wheels of it. More Pinto's followed. Wanna go fast in a Pinto? Racer Walsh and Esslinger Engineering had all kinds of stuff for the little pony. IMSA saw several and they did rather well. Fun car for fun times. The Fiesta was my next transition. It too found a Twin Cam in it. This time the mighty rally version BDA. 175hp in an 1800 pound car gave Corvettes fits. This stuff is what made us all gearheads and racing nuts. I miss those times. All you need was tools, a little scratch and some ingenuity to make a go fast toy!

  12. Indeed. :)

The SRO doesn't really have crowds anywhere it goes (unless it is part of an Indycar event).

It's like IMSA without the prototypes and less factory teams. Crowds were ok on Saturday. I like having the races later as September is usually very nice in Wisconsin if you like temps in the 70's. That hurricane in the gulf last week did not help, but it was still ok weather other than on Sunday wich I think was mostly cloudy with temps in the 70's.
