Thanks man, I’ve been doing that for a long time, I guess somethings working as I’m still here, but that is out down to Adrenalin and the Vegas shooting, apparently cancer tumours hate being bombarded for long periods with Adrenalin so they shrunk back and ‘froze’. It’s the evil living in my leg that’s the main issue at the moment

    Hahaha,

Yes, I got that! What I wanted to know was the smoke prodigious? What did it smell and look like? Was it all the time or just during startup? Did it get progressively worse, stayed the same? Did it only show up during cold starts and went away when warm? Did it always smoke or did it just start happening one day?

    Thanks in advance!

Ill keep my fingers crossed on the big items being ok on the car. I did have one of the door window/lock ECUs go and they are ridiculously expensive (if you can actually get one) but i managed to pick one up on ebay from a damaged car for £50. There are quite a few 456 being broken for parts currently in Europe.

My plan is not to have this car as a mint example, having previously been a salvage rebuild (from memory, back in 2002) the car will never be worth full value. But for $19k thats a heck of a lot of good looking Ferrari for the money. Its a gamble for sure as i'm all to well aware the costs on any ferrari can spiral. If I've got a decent car after some work that I can use with the kids I'll be happy.

To me, this is all part of the challenge. When I rebuilt the Ratarossa, there's many TR parts that are NLA but eventually you can track them down. Same with the 360/430/Enzo F1 Actuator ....... everyone was so scared of that going wrong, but Ive just done a thread and videos of stripping it down and fixing the £8000 part with a £20 pin. I love the challenge, just not the headache that comes with it :D

Yes indeed, Ive both a few F Cars from them over the years. Some very nice and some projects like this 456 and my other 308 build.

Hey Spider love all your posts and videos follow them religiously and I am actually in the market for 456 so I'm researching all of these problems and Gremlins ahead of time but I think you got a fantastic deal. I've never used them but know people that have there is an ECU repair shop in Fort Lauderdale Florida here in the states that is the best in the business from what I understand. Just thought I'd throw it out there.

PS.... they sell a three key set to solve the immobilizer dilemma with a reproduction of the infamous red key as part of the set which is pretty enticing

Brilliant thanks for this, Sam also gave me the details for these guys as they did the ECU reprogramming on his problematic 360 issue.

I'll be speaking to them for sure as I only have one key fob with this 456, so will get them to make me at least one more spare plus a master red.

I'm holding out only because if I discover other ECU issues it makes far more sense to ship them all over at once.

    Nice work.

Wouldn't it be easier to test the suspect suspension modules on the 355? They certainly are more accessible.
