+1 on that, hade one without the JBL and now with the JBL and both versions sounds terrible. The only thing I can identify is if it's house music or hip hop that I am playing, rest of the details left out (lyrics, etc)
Me too. I can barely make out what genre is playing let alone the music. I do love when i have a bluetooth call. All i have to so is bury the throttle if i want to blank out the conversation. No more need to make awkward static sounds with my mouth! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have whatever the upgraded system is in my 458 (2010)...I play DVD audio discs (remember those??) and they sound freaking incredible...best sound of any car I own and I own quite a few too many!!
You have to like electrostatic speakers to like the JBL upgrade. I do like. But l am used to it. I have had a set of Koss electrostatic earphones for years. Ciao bella!

I just picked up another 458 spider and have the car booked in for nav upgrade and retrofitting of cruise this Friday as I'm going to keep this car long term. I will let you know how it goes and post some info on here as soon as possible once the upgrade has been completed
I'm in the UK so we must have this available more quickly here for some reason, my car is possibly the first in the county to receive this as I have not managed to find anyone with it yet
Thanks for sharing, Pete. That’s the first time I’ve seen a Ferrari genuine brochure on the matter. If you could post a couple of pictures of your cockpit after installing the upgrade, it would certainly be most appreciated. Kind regards, Nuno.
Will do Nuno What's funny is the brochure was not supplied by the main dealer but a specialist supplied it to me and said I had to go to the main dealer for the upgrade as the parts are not available to them. Also having read the document it seems this is an upgrade that comes from adaptiv, they make upgrades for lots of different oem systems so the system Ferrari are likely to install will have the functionality of all their other systems. Let's see what it looks like and I'll also question them on Friday prior to the work. http://www.adaptiv-multimedia.com/
Car is still at the dealers awaiting the proxy to tell the car the fitted infotainment upgrade has been installed, I will hopefully have the car back this week and post review Sent from my CLT-L09 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
If you really want audiophile quality stereo you need the correct car. The Ferrari isn't Upgrades might be clearer, higher level but that's it. The standard stereo to the upgraded does nothing to improve , well get right , soundstage , depth , frequency response etc. Speakers behind you I laugh if there is anything other than a sub crossed over very low. Even then it will be so close to you that you will be able to localise it and degrade any imaging.
This upgrade is mainly about nav and better phone connectivity it's not a sound quality upgrade your right, for that you need a better system setup that's properly thought out for the cars cabin, the sound system in the 458 is an after thought and not properly optimised and designed for the cabin Sent from my CLT-L09 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
So picked up the car, it's not great tbh, I will run a whole review tomorrow Sent from my CLT-L09 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I will have to speak to the dealer on Tuesday, the sound all runs through a radio frequency connection which gives diabolical sound quality, I would not recommend this upgrade as the video stuff is great but on the sound side it let's it down so much to the point it is unusable as you can not get sound from the new system. I will post more once I have spoken to them but, at this stage this is certainly not what I was expecting
Thanks for keeping us updated, my dealer have not responded to me yet even though they should be ready with the first car by now (if it did not go bad installing it which I guess they reluctantly would admit). Please can you post photos of your installation (pics on what's new) and how you find the touchpad working?
Sure I'll post pics in the next couple of days, also satnav is not full postcode so not great, the screen mirroring by hdmi is great but the sound is so poor its of not use, they should have made an interface via the existing ipod adapter and this would have made this more worthwhile, I think it will be stripped out of the car as it is not of saleable quality with the poor sound interface, I can still post for you but, I'm quite disappointed tbh Sent from my CLT-L09 using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well this stinks, you would not think it that difficult to get audio through the system In a way other than FM. I was really hoping it would be a modernized and more user friendly interface. I was not expecting sound improvement but did not expect this.
I thought that this upgrade was meant to transplant the 488's CarPlay functionality onto the 458 infotainment system. I suppose I thought wrong?
