Yep. Had a quick look and seems those drivers that where on the ball in their first year (George Russell and of course our own Leclerc) all did GP3 (same pirelli tyres) before. Others that dominated the sport tended to have an extra year in the series already, or more. Mick has been unlucky at some races (taken out by his teammate in France in the first lap from I think 4th for example, which is a double penalty as for the next race you'll automatically start at the back!), car died on the grid here in the first race also, again leading him to start from the back. Mick hasn't raced with the Pirelli's before this race and most of his opponents have, either they've been in F2 longer or did GP3 before. All in all he's doing a good job so far. Next year he should compete for the title. Certainly, for me he's already proven he's a very capable driver and not just some halfwit whose looking for fame on behalf of his surname. Whether he gets an F1 drive is another thing we don't yet know, but for sure he'll make a career out of being a racing driver, on talent.
Isn’t it funny how Micks detractors on this site just happen to also apparently love Elton so much, and enjoy nothing better than baiting and trolling against Ferrari and it’s drivers. One might read into that that they are fully aware that Elton’s hollow championships, having come as a direct result of his luck in being at Mercedes, pale into insignificance against any previous world championship wins. Who would ever be able to argue that the titles between 1994 and 2006, fought with those drivers on the grid and a group of highly competitive teams all developing daily is less impressive than the regulation-driven ******** processions we see these days? None, that’s how many. It then begs the question, in a thread dedicated to the growing reputation and performances of Mick Schumacher, those detractors try to knock Mick’s development so early in his career, supposedly with their guru-like knowledge of motor racing. Newsflash, fellas, you aren’t fooling anyone, Mick’s future success or failure has yet to be decided, and it won’t be judged by anyone here, but by his development and performances on track, and off it. If he becomes half the driver and man his father is, then he will be ten times the driver and man that Elton is or ever has a hope of becoming Please note that the views expressed in this post are my own and do not reflect nor imply that they are those of FChat or its affiliates. Enjoyable drive last weekend. Had to be emotional! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I enjoyed the F2 race this am. Mick had a good start off pole, defended well going into turn one, and then managed his lead with constant pressure...no big errors. Good drive. I think Latifi is a real talent. Maybe take over the top Canadian spot from Stroller...hehe. not sure Mick quite ready for the jump.
Great victory Mick, congrats! But championship dreams just next year. Nick de Vries deserves to win this championship. Even though he was "overtaken" by Verstappen for F1, he is a fighter. Probably too old to go to F1 but could get a salaried job at F-E or DTM. Lafiti is not talented, just a driver with a ton of experience. I hope that Sette Câmara climbs to P2 soon. Take off you hoser! Before I get banned (again) I am completely joking. 80s Vintage Canadian humor. No one is a hoser but me. Levity is ok I hope.
Hat off! Not too terribly surprised after he qualified 4th (which did surprise me). The kid is getting better, we'll see.
Star in the making, let’s hope he doesn’t get sidetracked and peak too early. Steady progress Forza Ferrari..... the only racing team and car marque that matters. Italia forever It’s easier to apologise than it is to ask permission
During karting he used his mother surname or just "Mick Junior", but never "Schumacher": Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't get all the Mick Schumacher hype, His F2 results this year are far from sufficient I believe . To be honest I don't believe he isn't formula one material either Ferrari should looking forward ( Leclerc) and let the glorious history in the past .
