Driving the 488 is just entertaining in every aspect. Listening to the sound when it gets started, accelerating- braking, sitting in the CF race chairs, switching thru the fabulous double clutch box by using CF paddels, even using the blinker buttons in the steering wheel is funny.
Looking at it when it’s parked somewhere, anywhere.
    A (men‘s) toy par excellence. ;)
Even more to be expected from the F8.

They needn’t be, but I agree. They sure are.

Once they’ve already taken NA from us, I hope they’ll let us have superchargers and turbochargers. Anything but SUV and hybrids.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

A NA revival can be noticed with Porsche.
The 4.0l engine of the new GT4/Boxster Spider is a brand new development.
Sure it will be materialized elsewhere. Such as in the 911 T (992).
It’s quite an irony after all this downsizing efforts using turbo technology. The reason are new emission verification drive cycles (RDE) that result in turbo‘s smaller efficiency compared with NA engines.

Exactly. They all sound good, just different. Holding the 458 up as if it’s a given that everything must be judged against that is daft. Personally, I prefer the sound of the 430 to the 458 so the reduction in ‘scream’ that we get from the turbo cars is not such a big deal to me, given that the 430 has a lower more baritone sound to it.

My 430 has headers and s line exhaust, not sure there is much that sounds better than that. If sound was my primary concern, I’d just keep it! Looking forward to my F8 acquisition!

If you want sound- go buy an American muscle car. They sound great.

I love them, particularly Dodge. It sucks to live in southern Europe in that respect, once there are no official dealers here and it’s next to impossible to find a preowned model. Scheduled maintenance also virtually impossible, they’re rarer, much rarer than Ferraris, most people have never even seen an american muscle car, let alone know how to adequately service it.

I’m curious to hear how the F8 sounds like. Given it’ll have the Pista engine, I’m fairly optimistic.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.

Don't mind American v8 muscle but give me the sound of a smaller capacity higher revving 6, 8, 10, or 12 cyl higher tech Euro engine any day of the week!!

I'm also optimistic F8 will sound perfectly fine, especially from behind the steering wheel.

It's not a matter of capacity. It 's the flat plane crankshaft, the firing order, the engine speed and the exhaust manifold. Nothing beats a Ferrari V12 at 9000 RPM.

I soon realized that. Starting this month, my 488 is now my daily driver. I drove it everyday to work so far. Plan on doing so until it snows here...

True about the N/A sound, I so nearly got back into Maranello ownership at the weekend, but (Classics aside) going forward. what are you going to do?
The new V8 turbo's are great cars and bring a lot of things to the table that the older cars don't.
Sheer "drivability" in so many real world situations being one. I would bet that this generation of Ferrari will get more use than their predecessors.
Many people only have room for one Ferrari on the drive , so you either freeze yourself in time or you get on board.

Not a real world situation at all, but i still grin from ear to ear remembering the sheer joy of driving a 488 at Fiorano.
    What a delightful car.
We have been invited back for the F8 spider launch in September....so tempting !

If they did an ad with dragsters or nascar, it would be an entirely different sound progression...

Some people only like pasta apparently. My palette is much broader which allows me to appreciate a wide variety of foods. Same with cars.

Too bad the V12 is in the “wrong position”... wish it was a mid engine car.

Technically whatever.. Compared to a 488, F8 or Pista its a lead tipped arrow. But a nice sounding one

Their weight distribution is not that far off. The Pista is 41.5%-58.5%, whereas the 812 is 47%-53%. The 812 is a lot heavier of course.
