Just returned from Maranello where I was fortunate to visit the Zanasi facility that does the painting for special cars. I was impressed at the level of workmanship, and exacting perfection not often found these days in a facility of that size. Marco Zanasi was kind enough to explain the process for the painted shields, and show us some wonderful paint combinations, an epic day, living Ferrari history.
Would love to hear about the process of painting the shields, if you have time to elaborate... Thanks!
Sure of course, it seems that they have to do that size, because any smaller and the images would possibly become muddled somehow in the process. The shield is applied in stages, like a Warhol screen painting, with each layer applied on top of the next. Perhaps the best info I could offer is this short video that the President, Marco Zanasi directed me to on his personal Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bkx-VcXgDr3/?igshid=1116d8kulnwwy Quite impressive work, but after getting a 39k bill for Atelier paint I ordered, I decided standard shields would do. Had I known in advance the workmanship was this detailed, I might have gone for these. Went a bit overboard with options, but in the end, it will be a very special ride.
Fantastic! Thank you very much for sharing this video! I have heard one of the reasons it takes so long for this option is that the car paint must be allowed to fully cure before painting on the Shields. Did you hear same?
Didn’t Think toto ask, was more curious about if was really done by hand..would have been a great ask though. I will next spring when I’m there
I went with the painted shields and blu elettrico paint. I chose it because I like the size on the 812. On my FF I went without shields. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looking good! I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures. Ahh. I see on the other thread that it looks ready to ship.
How many pieces is the full luggage normally on the 812? And Anyone forgot to order his black-red luggage ? got two bags left from a car sale...
