Still around as far as I know; but the guy was fearless behind the wheel. Balls so big he carted 'em around in a wheel barrow.
That photo was taken on a narrow one lane, downhill backroad, retaining wall one side and steep drop off on the other. We were doing somewhere way north of 100kmh at the time. He was coming through no matter what, basically ran me off the road. Later using the width of the writing on the Targa number plate, I worked out that there is a 1 inch gap between the cars wheels at ground level. In Targa he was as fast as **** until he either crashed or broke the car.

Apparently the photo was on the wall of Jack Nasser's office in Broadmeadows whilst he was the CEO of Ford Australia. It has been published quite a few times in books and magazines over the years.

I had an Aunt who’s final wish was to have her remains scattered around the garden. So when she passed away we did as she wanted. Trouble is, she wasn’t cremated........
We don’t go out in the garden anymore....

I should add that in the case of my 308 it was mostly my own fault for leaving it sit unused for most of the decade after it was restored. That and the fact that it was a 41 year old car with 64,000 km's of pretty consistently hard use before the big 10 year restoration (1989 - 1999).
Now it is fully sorted I reckon it will be pretty reliable for a car of its age.

As for usability, I live in the massively overcrowded Police State where speed cameras litter our roads and we get booked for 2kmh over the posted limits. Consequently I rarely drive my toys in my home state. I take them to Tassie a couple of times a year and do 1500km or so over a 2 day period, so very long driving stints are the norm. Consequently usability is a pretty big requirement and I can't imagine doing a trip like that in the 308.

I'd love to; but unfortunately I've only driven the 275 GTB/4 (a hell of a lot), don't think I've even sat in the other variants, much less driven them.
FWIW, the 275 GTB/4 was magnificent; but it wasn't perfect. The brakes were absolutely abysmal, even by period standards and the engine was quite cammy which you had to drive around. Other than that it was pretty awesome.
A former owner of an Oz 275 GTB/4 who now owns a long nose twin cam 275 reckons his current 275 is the better car.

Yep, the not using a car can lead to big problems, been guilty of that too. Over the past 6 months I've been going through my HDT Commodore (after years of not driving it). Rusty fuel system & seized brakes were the major problems.
Agree re the 308 in Tassie, more fun to do it in a modern car.

    Sort of both.

He'd had an electrical problem at some stage plus he got a little red misty somewhere and did not achieve a plate.
