This entire thing has to be the funniest thing I read all day.

I keep wondering if this is a joke? I mean 308s are like $50-$60k right now...this car needs a complete restore...am i missing something?

Better to start out too high than too low. I learned that one the hard way when I sold my 328, thinking I really knew the market at the time.

I think you need to clean this car up, take a lot more photos and fill us in with some more history. Any records? Tools?

Carl, is this your vehicle or are you selling for a friend? Records are mechanical and service records, any paperwork associated with the history of the car. Tools were included with new cars, jack, tire iron, roll of wrenches and drivers, set of fuses... Usually found under the boat cover aft of the engine.

No one ---- not even the "experts" ---- knows for certainty the market for the 308 / 328 at this time.

The "asking" prices are all over the map, and in the end, they sell (if they do) for what a buyer wants to pay and a seller wants to accept.

That said........ a lot of these cars are not selling at all ---- for lack of compromise on both sides.

IMHO, the "market" on these cars will settle itself out in a few, maybe as much as 5, more years from today.

I'm glad I'm not in market to buy a 308 right now. Because I honestly would not know how much to pay ---- only how much I want to pay :)

    @ the OP ---- GLWS

Well for starters,in Aussie anyway,a carby anything is going to be worth more than an injected anything in the same condition.
Is that the case in the US?

There should be another roll full of tools, spanners, screwdrivers etc, that alone is 'worth ' <$2000 complete. See how important it is.

Generally not so in the US --- at least with 308s.

The 4-valve (injected) cars are typically worth more than the carbed cars. The exception being the very early ('76 & '77) versions which are very desirable as well.

The low market versions are / have always been the 2-valve injected cars ('80 thru '82). But, not because they are injected, rather because they are the least powerful output (slowest) ---- plus, they suffer from the "middle child" syndrome :)

There's both a 1977 NON CAT and a 1979 Catalyst equipped car up for auction this weekend..

The Market is aboutt to make itself known, maybe down from 2015 highs….

If it runs, $80K is not a bad ask, really...….look at the Pebble Beach estimates, which do include auction premiums....
