I used to think that the 355 was the better looking of the two - a widely held view, I believe - but as time has passed, I am starting to favour the 348. This is no comment on their relative abilities (I have never driven either, so am not in a position to judge), merely their looks.

    What do you think?

I think the 348 looks even better! I like the sharper edges up front. I do like the rear lip on the 355 though. They are both aces in my book. I sure miss the way they used to make them!

complete coin toss for me. each one has their appeal, to my eye. both interiors are great to look at, and while I love the cheese grate elements of the 348, I also love the smoother lines on the 355. I'm going to wuss out and straddle the line. (but I should disclose that I am shopping 355's:))

I like the 355s rear end, the 250/288 inspired kick tail is to die for, but everything else 348. When folks do the 355/challenge rear I find that to be perfect. I also prefer the 348 interior with the exception of the seats and I prefer the 348 simplicity. I bought a 348, nicest one I could find.

I think both cars are stunning. The 355 is a bit more modern, but the 348 looks better every day to me for the following reasons:

I love the contrasting colors. The black sills, black part at the rear bonnet and the black slats over the tail lights
The side strakes which are also matched by the slats in the rear bonnet.
The door cards which also have the slat / strake theme with the seams.
    The classic 70s / 80s instruments.

They are both beautiful cars. The 355 has the more traditional rear lamp assembly and I've seen some 348's that look great (gasp!) with the 355 rear light conversion. The 355 sounds great (visual is only part of the picture), but the 348 with an after-market pipe is very sweet as well.

Like others, I do like the simplicity of the 348 and I'm a fan of the strakes. They give the car an edge, and to me they've aged well.

I've driven both and I prefer the 348. It's just a more connected car (go-kart). I have more powerful cars with the techno-bits that disconnect the driver from the experience. I want to 'feel' what the car is doing.

F355 is my pick obviously for all of its changes.

It’s wheel design may be the prettiest in Ferrari’s history. I love the rear engine lid and the rear lip. 4 tail lights - check. It’s got the right amount of muscle and right amount of curve. Rounded edges just seem to be perfect. Interior other than the airbag wheel is a great place to be.

Do I like the 348 - yes but I don’t see it as just a few parts different.

Easily the 355. Just my personal opinion. I love everything from the front pillar on back. The side scoops, the rear deck lid, the rear end (with a challenge grill), and the low, wide stance from the rear. Only week point, again my opinion, is the dates pop up lights, but the 348 has those as well.

I like the both, but I think the 348 has more character and is a bit more aggressive looking. Especially love the low, flat back of the spiders.

As much as I love mine, I don't consider either to be absolutely beautiful, but very cool.

348 = Edgy, with some attitude and a bit of a renegade.
    355 = Pretty, and softer

The 355 is THE PINACLE of the wedge design of the analog version and the QUINTESSENTIAL Ferrari. I will always have mine.

The 348 is rugged and cool and totally awesome though.

Loved the 348 when it first came out, then when the 355 came out I thought it was the perfect update. What struck me then and still does, is how they are empirically so similar, but at the same time so different. 355 wheels are much better than the 348 OEM wheels IMO, but I wished the 355 lacked power steering.

It's funny how tastes change. Years ago I always thought the 328 was such an improvement on the 308, and now (while I still love the 328) the 308 QV is my favorite of the 3x8 series.

The 355 has that exhaust note, though...nothing beats that.

I've seen guys try to make 348s more like 355's by putting on 355 wheels , changing the rear grill to the 355 , or removing the side grills in favor of the 355 side scoops . I have not seen a 355 changed to look a little more like a 348. Imitation is the greatest form of compliment.
