Let me get this right... $10k to $15k just for all of that clutch work (your bulleted list)? It's all too easy to do for anyone with a decent mechanical aptitude. Take your time and make a weekend of it. :)

Experienced tech could do it all in 8 hours including bumper R&R. OEM parts figure 1K. At $200 an hour that's still less than 3k.

If you don't want to tackle it your self Mark but are not in a hurry, I'll drive up and help you, I've never done it but it we can damn sure do it, super easy access.

Ferrarium is correct...not too difficult to work on especially with all the tutorial videos available.

I was able to re-grease my flywheel while Automotive International in Charlotte was doing my engine out service.

    At 15k miles a 30k mile service
kit from Ricambi America was installed along with an updated Hill Engineering idler bracket, new oil pump chain guide (Ferrari Service Bulletin), and both inner/outer bearings on the main drive gear for the timing belt (water pump serviced by previous owner)...total cost was $10k.

    Ferrarium,

I feel your pain! I drove my 348 ten hours from Indianapolis to Charlotte with the stock bracket only to find out during the engine out service that it had been welded back together at some point due it breaking in half...thankful the amateur aluminum weld job held the bracket together long enough to get her home :)

I know, right? FoNE service advisor was off his rocker - way off his rocker.

Precision has it at $3,500 for thrust bearing, flange, the triple seals, and re-pack the flywheel grease. They added $2,200 if it needs a friction disk.

I’ll have to pick up the tool for the flywheel from watching the video that @Ferrarium posted and one of the few tools I don’t have (a hydraulic press) is already planned as I have a lot of suspension work on my muscle car suspensions (both the 64 Cutlass convertible and 71 442 convertible need new suspension bushes) so using that is planned.

I see a lot of people use Ricambi and I’m looking at the Hill Engineering thrust bearing.

    Really appreciate the hints!

FoNE will not get my business.

    Thanks!

I’m very close to doing it myself. Just need to find, and get lead times, on the specialty tool to remove that big-old fastener on the back of the pumpkin. The one that takes 450 foot pounds of torque (the MD Clutches video didn’t cover re-torquing it).

I will look thru the 348 threads and I’m compiling the links @Ferrarium shared already into a small list for my shop computer.

I found one on eBay from UK for like 20 bucks. If I recall it's just a 60mm Ring nut used on lots of cars. I'll look up what I got.

Look for OEM 25966 1/2in 76mm x 80mm. This measurement throws one off, but in reality the inner teeth measure about 57>58mm, perfect for the flywheel ring nut.... very heavy duty and about $20. You can find them anywhere(NA) Amazon, Pepboys, Ebay, etc. Used for a variety of Ford and GM trucks!

Traveling this week, I should have a care package before I return with the parts for the throw-out bearing job. : )

I went with the recommended Hill Engineering upgraded Flange and thrust-bearing and the triple seals.

I'm going to tackle the pumpkin as a unit later (unless it warrants it now). I have no concerns over removing/replacing the pumpkin a second time.

I am looking at the various clutches offered by Ferrparts.com. Mine is a '94 Spider so it should be a single clutch setup unless a previous owner went backwards.

I'll post an update later with photos.
