348 spiders just over the top
Because it is actually a hand built, tube frame, welded on sheet metal Ferrari. Not one of those unibody, dinge a fender? No problem, you can pick up one at the junk yard and bolt it on "modern cars". Just wait. One of these day you are going to see a 348 or 355 with a yellow right front fender on a black car. Oops! And the point is.... what? It's interesting to hear perspectives, I find myself saying "gee t hat's true". I love it.
Haha no I mean tire to fender gap, not panel to panel. Bring that thing down from Baja 1000 ride height
As a friend of mine always says, it's just a matter of adjustment. It's really not that high. Factory stock. But the shadow in the picture makes the gap look huge, and may higher than a euro due to US bumper height requirements back in the 80's.
Arguably they already did - by buying it! Some of us, however, own neither, but still have and opinion, and a vote.

When folks do the 355/challenge rear I find that to be perfect. I also prefer the 348 interior with the exception of the seats and I prefer the 348 simplicity. I bought a 348, nicest one I could find
Actually everyone knows (no matter which one they own) which is the better....nothing more needs to be said.
Easily the 355 for me. In my opinion the side strakes were an aberration in Ferrari styling. Ferrari moved away from them as soon as they could get a new model out.
348 hands down, ok back in the day I was shopping and a 355 or 348 was going to be the options for me. Drove both, liked both, power 355, handling 348, steering 348, style 348, interior,348. I ended up with a 348. Only thing going for a 355 style is the rear end and some added HP. Please no flames, this is IMHO.
The strakes were a significant element of 80's exotic car style and design. Since the first 355 is based on the 348's platform, Ferrari needed to visually distinguish one from the other. Plus twelve years is probably long enough for a defining styling cue.
Interesting I always thought car models and styling change over time. Last I checked the 360 was very different from 355 maybe they could not get away from the 355 fast enough. Mechanically certainly. It was afairly short model run. I think they are all amazing and have thier own qualities from 355 back. Sent using FerrariChat.com mobile app
For me, it is very hard to tell (very subjective, actually). Just like telling which one of these two girls is better looking: Image Unavailable, Please Login
He also wrote a letter to Santa; "You know I said that I wanted a Lamborghini Diablo, well I've changed my mind. What I would really like now is a Ferrari 348 GTB. I shall be a good boy... I promise."
You know how a smoking hot lady gets old and is not hot anymore but you can tell she used to be hot? That's the 355 with its pretty little front fascia. John is right about that. The 348 is as boss looking as it ever was. The aggressive thing never wears off. "Pretty"... it just fades. Its not a 355 thing its a car thing. Which is better looking the E30 M3 or the E46 M3 which was gorgeous? Now it just looks dated. I'd take an E30 all day every day. Lets not even talk about Porsche's, 993 anyone? Newer and prettier at one time, sure. We all agree. I'm on board. But today... it just "used" to be prettier looking through the nostalgia lens. 348 has aged better in that it is as boss as it was the day it came out. 355, not so much. My opinion of course other can disagree.
Ask him that today. Journalists are fickle and as much as I like Clarkson his trademark is controversy. He has also changed his mind on lots of other cars but I believe he still likes the F355. Anyway I have a 360 and it's a way, way better car than the F355 [I had] and today I like how it looks more than I do an F355, but they are still undeniably pretty IMHO.
Oh do let's! That's why I still have my 964 after 18 years - it looks like a real 911, not like a 911 that's just had an elephant sitting on the front of it! Ask him on Monday and he'll tell you the 355 was the best car he ever owned. Ask him on Tuesday and he'll tell you it was a pile of junk.
