My argument, if you care to read my posts, was about the way Red Bull conducted itself during the partnership, and not an attempt to exonerate Renault's failure to deliver a first class power unit. The facts are that Red Bull chose to run Renault engines; nobody forced them to. When they try to sever links with Renault, they were unable to find another engine supplier. Toto Wolff laughed at them ! They had to grovel back to Renault. The French made the mistake to renew the supply, IMO. Big mistake then. Immediatly Red Bull restarted to whine about Renault. In my book, "Beggars can't be choosers" . Red Bull deserve all the scorn that's coming to them.
Red Bull has been more than patient with Renault. Renault kept promising big but deliver only failure. If you think Renault-RBR didn't discuss things internally before the poo flinging began I have a bridge to sell you. Honda-RBR now has more points than at the same point last year. What scorn?
The points earned this year by RBR are partly thanks to Honda, but they are also helped by the miserable Ferrari performance, which is not linked with Red Bull's engine.
Whilst true, Ferrari does have a poor package....a great engine but poor package. Red Bull started with a pretty **** chassis/partial aero due to them needing to allow for more heat extraction in between season testing and Melbourne, and the engine was a lot lower power as well. It's taken them a good 7 or so races to get up to speed let alone be competitive. Ferrari has a great engine...and failed to capitalize. One could only guess where Red Bull would be now if tehy started the season with the package they've got now. I think they'd be right at the top with Mercedes.
