are you trolling Moretti and Kerrari again? "80% increase since last year" ? Could we have the long term context please, sorry, they've only been keeping records since 2013. "The Amazon is often referred to as the planet's lungs, producing 20% of the oxygen in the Earth's atmosphere." It also produces 20% of the earth's CO2, and 20% of the methane. Why? because a mature rainforest is in equilibrium, the decaying vegetation offsets the new growth. This is high school science kiddies, but not for CNN journos. Then we get to the real agenda, a "far right" President who doesn't believe in climate change and supports Trump. Quelle Surprise! Of course in CNN-land, anyone who's not a communist is "far right". Never mind that Bolsonaro was elected with 55.7% of the vote, has a strong record in tackling corruption and will likely win the next election. Greepeace, the WWF and CNN can't allow this to happen! Humans have been fire-farming for tens of thousands of years. The same situation happens regularly in South East Asia. Remote communities burn land so they can plant a crop and avoid starvation next year. Hard to consider the planet when your children are starving. I wish it didn't happen, but there are no easy solutions, however stopping the illegal trade in rainforest timber would be a big help. I wonder who the chief culprit is? "A new study from the University of California examines timber exports from five Central African countries to China between 2001 and 2015. During that period, China more than doubled its wood imports from the Congo Basin, the world’s second-largest rainforest, and is now its biggest timber importer."
The Chinese are also dredging up the coral in the spratley islands on an industrial scale 24/7. They are crushing it to use it in boat building. These fuchsing wankers are driven by pure greed. Half the islands don’t even belong to them......Wait till they get their hands on us and start destroying our artesian basins etc to make a dollar.
meanwhile, the world is spending hundreds of billions on useless windmills, but peanuts on the only viable zero-emission power source https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/27/a-boston-startup-developing-a-nuclear-fusion-reactor-just-got-a-roughly-50-million-boost/
