    Hi Group,

I am toying with the idea of trading my 2003 Red on Tan Gated 360 coupe for a 50th Anniversary 911 (must be manual).

My car has 25,000 miles and is in excellent condition cosmetically and mechanically. Factory shields and Tubi exhaust. Tires within the last 2 years and stickies all addressed (Sticky Rx). Service history and a clean CarProof.

    Questions:
    1. Would this be a straight trade for a 15-25K mile 911? I would expect to pay up for a lower mileage 911.
    2. Anyone done the comparison - in particular, driven both?

    All comments appreciated.

    Thank You,

    Bruno

I wouldn’t. They make new 992s with a stick... 50th is just another 911 “series”..

I wouldn't either. I would have to think a little bit harder if the 911 was a turbo manual. But I remember thinking just that when I sold my 360. I went 430 (manual). So no again from me

The 360 stick is a special Ferrari.
The 911 is just another variant of a commonplace car.
If you trade for anything Porsche get something special like a GT3RS, GT2 etc.

Totally a head or heart decision. You can only go wrong by somehow choosing the 360 with your head or the 991 50th with your heart :)

I'd add that if you're the kind of person for whom a gated 360 scratches your Ferrari itch, it's very possible that a nice 997 (or even 996) might scratch your Porsche itch. It does for me anyway, and it pairs really nicely with the 360.

If you want a 991 fine but don't get a 50th. It's just a GTS with the ugliest wheel option picked out for you, for more $$$.

I have a 991.1S and it feels way less special than my gated 360, but also way more convenient for daily driving and not worrying about anything. So two totally different cars that complement but don't replace each other.

    If I were buying a 911 today it'd be a 2009-2011 997.2 GT3 3.8. Great bang for your buck, a little more special than the newer S/GTS.

I don't know that the Ferrari forum is the place to find appreciation for the 50th. Porsche people certainly do separate it from a run of the mill GTS and show as much regularly with their wallets. Its hard for anyone to access what is most special to you, but the Porsche you describe is more valuable today than your 6 speed Modena. Where that will go in the future is anyones guess. ut please, have it be one with Pepita!

Im not a Ferrari guy nor a Porsche guy.
Im a sportscar guy that currently owns both marques among others.
IMO the 50th is neat and all that but just another "special edition" for which Porsche pumps out dozens.
This car trades for the same price as my 996 GT2 which is actually a special model. I dont get it.
    Whatever.

Thanks all. I think I'll keep the 360 and get a 993 Targa. Yes, I know they squeak and rattle, but I love the car. I'm also a Porsche guy

Not sure which is worse, this one or the Gallardo post. Ok, the Gallardo one as the 993 is a sweet car. Definitely would not trade the 360 for a 50th but can understand the appeal.

If one was on crack, I think contemplating Porsche versus Ferrari would be the least of ones concerns.

I went the opposite way. I loved my 50th anniversary, but was unexpectedly lured away by a virtually new 2004 Nero/cuoiu gated spider at Algar.
    Best trade I’ve ever made!

Weird as it seems to many the 993 Targa looks great in my eyes.
All the 911 targas are unique and a fantastic value because they trade for less than a coupe.

    I wouldn't get rid of the 360 Gated for a 911 50th.

993 Targa looks great IMO, if you can find one in stick, much rather have that coupled with a Gated 360.

Not so much (cheaper) with the 993 as it's glass roof is light year's away from the earlier Targa box-top style..
