About 50-75 + lbs due to the t56 trans. But the wgt is near the center.

So I can keep the good balance w eventual wgt reduction... later

The iron block st six was a heavy boat anchor 240 hp lolz

That combo should sound pretty good. You’ll have a fun car on your hands for sure. Projects like this are fun. Have one in mind to start soon.

It’s always cool to see the ideas people have. From mild to extreme. I have an 01 Ranger that’s my daily for work. 2.3 duratec with 135hp... lol
Really want to put the 2.3 EcoBoost in with a T56. No one has done it that I have found online.
Your car is going to be a handful probably. Which sounds like a lot of fun

This build is not new... I bought a kit from vorshlagout of Dallas. I like the vorshlag kit because they are road race people... not drifting punks.

And just got back from 1st real drive 30 miles at high way speeds since tear down last December 2018.
It needs an alignment, and a tune.
It's got some idle issues coming to a stop (common LS tuning issue with cam), and it's pretty dog slow (suspect rich, and lack of timing due to mail order start-up tune). I could feel the cam coming on.... but fuel and timing are off.

The good - after taking just about every system apart for this swap, I'm happy to say nothing fell off, nothing caught on fire, and nothing leaked..... nothing over heated. So shake down good.

Next - drive to get alignment, then dyno-tune in a week!

Current ex is the quiet setup..... LT Headers, 3" collectors, 3" spin tech cats dual, then swage down to the stock M3 resonator H-pipe which is pretty small 2.5", then swage down to 2.25" dual Dinan M3 cat back with Dinan Muffler....... suspect this is pretty restrictive..... so will see what tuner can do.

After some miles... I'll build a nice custom ex with LT Headers, 3" Collectors, 3" cats, then a 2.5" in/out resonator (dynomax), then a borla muff at the back....
that will open things up later.

There are a couple of LS1 E36 cars local to me. If I remember right they said the exhaust headers were a big challenge. Here is a video of a friend at our local track years ago with his car:

KMR - Thanks for the motivational Vid!! Holy cow that thing rips!.... mine sounds nothing like that..... hopefully tune will get me dialed.
I've got trick flow heads, cam, ls6 intake, longtube headers.... so this thing should move.

Figured you would like that one. He was always one of the fastest at our track days. One thing my friend found was the rear diff was not up to task. So they installed a diff from an M5. His car was a non M car from the start so maybe the M3 diff is ok.

Congrats! My friends car dynoed 399 rwhp.....on 7 cylinders. He had a cylinder with low compression that was discovered after the dyno day. Lot's of potential for these engines. He is now putting a centrifugal blower on. Nuts. Told him about your car,

KMR - yeah tell your buddy about my build please. I enjoy comparing notes.

I'm starting off stock sleeper street form..... will enjoy this car in that form for a while before I slowly start to reduce wgt.

Big bottleneck right now is the stock m3 exhaust..... I have LT headers, 3" collectors, 3" cats.... then neck this all down into the stock 2.25" m3 resonator..... then 2.25" cat back into a dinan muff. Power curve slope changes @ 5000 RPM...... showing what I think is the lim of the stock exhaust...... will cut out the M3 resonator..... and install my borla 2.5" dual in/out.... then go to the dinan cat back next.

Also now that it runs and drives.... I'm working all the bugs out of a 19 yo 60k mile ls...... pcv tubing and valve all plugged up and leaking...... IAC plugged with oil.... and TB blade with carbon.....

can't wait to drive this in anger on track...... 1st ax.... the HPDE......

    Cheers.

to be honest I was a little dis appointed.... but I have surmised my issue is big heads/cam pkg with restrictive bimmer exhaust.

today I removed the restrictive m3 mid-pipe..... resonator and h-pipe in 2.125".... and installed a proper borla 2.5" x pipe resonator dual....
only tacked it together..... will fin weld it out tomorrow, then test drive.

    ls needs to breath!

New free flow exhaust, ported throttle body, and speed-density tune by best local tuner JMS.

    new curve.

NOTE - hp dip @ 6300rpm..... suspect my trick flow springs not up to the task of the cam above 6300rpm.
With stock bottom end.... I'm happy to keep rev lim below this point.

This car is a riot to drive.
