My 2008 F430 F1 pump has gone bad. I’m trying to figure out where to buy an OEM pump, not at dealer prices? Also, trying to find out information on an aftermarket pump and if anyone has experience purchasing aftermarket and how it worked? Not sure I want to go that route or not. Lastly, trying to find a Ferrari Specialist in south Florida that’s works on the newer Ferrari’s? Dealership experience has been terrible in south Florida. I found a technician that specializes in Ferrari service and unfortunately he had a tragic accident and passed away. So trying to find a place, specialist, and if anyone has experience with servicing their Ferrari outside of dealership in south Florida. Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks

How do you know it’s the pump? Does it prime for about 4 seconds on door opening? Shifting issues? I ask because you could through a new pump on to correct a problem and it’s something else without a proper diagnosis.

If you do a search on here, I think you’ll find a few threads that talk about alternative pumps.

Technician that looked at my car, that passed away, diagnosed the problem. Exact description “after installing new battery, car wouldn’t start based on engine off request from TCU. Traced problem to F1 pump does not run. Traced power feed o pump through F1 relay and fuse. Found 30 amp maxi fuse open, installed borrowed fuse from heated seats(car does not have that option), tapped F1 pump and got pump to run but it makes a groaning noise, not high pitched whine that it should. F1 pump will need to be replaced in near future”.

So I’m 100% certain of the problem. F1 pump is going bad.

Thanks and I’ve seen this. I’m not an expert and trying to understand if I put an aftermarket F1 pump what is the benefit versus OEM part? My car is all stock, only dealer serviced since new, so just slapping an aftermarket part on I’m not sure. Any aftermarket stuff on my car is purely cosmetic, nothing that works motor or trans. So concerned. You know the saying “you get what you pay for”. Just concerned that I slap on an aftermarket part and then the problems start.

Found three shops in south Florida that come recommended on fchat.

    1. Modena Eurosports. Danny. Oakland Park, FL. Ferrari tech, certified, owner of shop, and owns a F430.
    2. Precision Tune. Adrain comes recommended. MARGATE, FL.
    3. Prestige Auto. West Palm Beach.

I’m close to Modena Eurosport’s, so going to stop by shop, and check them out.

Don't know how handy your are but putting in a F1 pump is really easy. Just take pictures and then take the old pump out and put the new one in. Takes like 45 min. I think there are some YouTube videos you can watch.

Have watched those videos. Just not THAT of a car handyman >.< sigh. Already had one pump done by agent, painful labour charges. Labour almost the same if not more than the part itself lol!

Check pricing at Eurospares. I have ordered from them many times. Good service and pricing for OEM parts and you get the parts in 2 days.

The F1 fuse in a 2008 is 50amp. The heated seats are 30amp. Before going further I would for the correct fuse.

I believe the reason the unused fuse was borrow, was to check if pump would work. My car broke down literally 50 feet from where it was parked in my building garage, about 25 feet from the exit, in the middle of the garage. Was in a bad spot. Matt came to my building, after he loaded up tools & battery, to try to get car running. Battery was at 2%, he replaced it, and car wouldn't start. He hooked up to his computer, ran diagnostics, and traced it back to F1 pump. He borrow the fuse and tapped the pump to get it working. Car started. I got the car back to my parking spot. Pump was making a terrible groaning noise and not the normal high pitch whine, per Matt. I will let the specialist I find know to replace with 50 amp fuse. It was basically a roadside repair, so he was working with what he could to get the car moving. And with his passing, I'm trying to figure it out from there. So not ideal to say the least. Modena Eurosports looks like the come recommenced on chat. Owner9Danny) of shop owns an F430, the shop is Ferrari certified, and literally around the corner from my business. So I'm hopefully things might work out with Danny. So will see how it goes. Thanks for the response.

replacing the pump motor is fairly easy like you've described but replacing the whole unit will introduce air to the system. That will require a flush with an SD3 I believe.

    Anthony,
I upgraded my pump motor to Juri and replace my fuse to 50amp and 70amp rely. I do have a working stock pump motor that is perfectly fine. This is the Magneti Marelli unit and not the Bosch. Let me know if you could use it.

I'm with you. It's always best to start with the basics but in this case it does sound like the motor. The motor can be swapped independently of the pump head, but I would be inclined to change both as a unit and refresh the fluid.

I can let you know. Not sure I want a used pump, if that ends up ultimately being the issue. Stopped at Modena Eurosports in Fort Lauderdale and met with owner Danny. Seemed very nice, extensive Ferrari dealership experience as well as certified, and had 5-6 newer Ferrari's that he's been working on. He just sold his F430, which was his dream car, to invest further in his shop. He's been on his own for 4 years. I can appreciate the back story and I believe I'm going to give him a shot at the annual service and the F1 diagnostic issue. So will see how things go.

Just be sure it's the pump and has nothing to do with the actuator. If it turns out to be that then GTE Engineering is for you. http://www.gte-engineering.com/
Owner's name is Serkan. Very nice guy. They rebuilt my actuator in my 430 when I had it.

Rob is the only one that really knows how to sort out the F1 transmission. Everyone else just replaces everything a lot of times it’s a fluid issue or you just need to replace some of the solenoid in the f1 pack.. Unfortunately I know too much about the system as well

This started as a problem we were checking an issue as when we went to a stop the car would go in to neutral at a light. we changed a relay and now the pump doesn't work. I have a later model 430 2008 and need the pump as the car wont run and we have narrowed it down to this issue , any ideas its a single wire pump i have found a bunch of upgraded ones with two wire but these don't seem to be right. We contacted a seller of one and were told it is a different one and I can't seem to find one for less than big bucks. The car now won't start and the pump doesn't come on when we open the door.

On the other Ferrari Forum, I purchased an upgraded pump and motor (w/heat sink) from Juri Gelovani for a 360. Also added the electronic relay from Stefan (same Forum). I was able to replace everything on my own and even flushed the system with new fluid without the need for an SD2/SD3. My procedure is on this forum if you do a search.

I installed this equipment nearly four years ago, and the transmission has shifted flawlessly ever since.

The prices for the equipment were reasonable, certainly much cheaper than the Ferrari-branded gear.
