I’m thinking of purchasing a C S stradale tcu for my 2003 360. All in all , I love my car , but I never liked the way it gets into first gear. My mechanic made some adjustments with slight improvements, but not as good as a 430. I understand that with the earlier 360 s there was a great improvement, however, does anyone have experience with the 2003 and 04 upgrade to CS tcu? Thanks!

the action of getting into first gear is not discernable for a 360 and a f430. maybe you are talking changing from 1st gear to 2nd gear?

if you are talking about satisfaction with gear changing, my perspective is
    if 1999 f1 360 = 50 out of 130
    2003 f1 360 = 85 out of 130
    and CS = 130 out of 130

yes, i've been driving all of above

First time I see an estimation range with a full scale at 130 !!!! :)
Is it a magic number for you ??

In my opinion, the main factor which improves starting out in 1st gear is an appropriate PIS setting. This cannot be done manually on an old 360. This can be done on your MY 2003, though. Thus, I don't think there would be significant improvement starting out in 1st on your later MY Modena TCU vs the CS TCU, given both with appropriate PIS settings.

Upshifting and Downshifting is a completely different story, though!

    well OBVIOUSLY!!!!

    Otherwise, it would have been:
    1999 f1 360: 38.46 out of 100
    2003 f1 360: 65.38 out of 100
and CS: 100 out of 100.

Now that just doesn't make any sense, does it??!!???:D

Indeed, what was I thinking ? Much more readable using 130 FS ... :D:D

    no, here's what happened

at first i wrote out 100, then I had 2nd thought, and thought 50 out of 100 is a bit of a stretch for first generation TCUs, so i changed the scale

    hehe

Worth at this point mentioning that equally using a CS TCU yields very little benefit beyond pis adjustment on a 1999 model year car if you don't upgrade the engine firmware too. Performance is wasted.

I was genuinely surprised recently when a 99 owner who had previously had fitted a CS TCU got a CS firmware upgrade using SAK tool to 2004 spec firmware. Absolute Night and day difference in performance of both engine and shift speed with both combined. The old engine firmware greatly reduced benefits so if you've done a CS tcu on a 99 car and don't see benefits you expected get in touch..

Even on later cars combined of CS TCU and Engine firmware makes a big improvement, unsurprising really I guess considering they've been designed originally to work together.
