This is the car in roughly 1989, in England shortly before it was cut apart and shipped to the US.
Here is the story from the previous owners widow-
“Son says he was 5ish (kid in the pic)
Notes in file say Tad bought it in 1988, it was in a fire in the 70s, shipped back here in early 90s. Tad came back to the states to close down Carswell Air Force base before retiring in 1995.”

So, clearly the body number is 668 on our car, which does not correspond to a 250GTE, and the correct serial 330 America is accounted for. AND it's absolutely not the same car. That car was painted and in one piece 10+ years after this one was cut apart. Does this mean that the 5013gt 330 was rebodied using parts from our car? or are there any other explanations?

No, 899 is the PF number for a series one car, this is a series 3.

Interesting mystery on this one. The color and the pf body number looks like 5013 but the time line of 5013 does not line up with when and where the body was found. Sometimes the information we fine is not correct and there are errors in the factory paperwork too. Also car could have been in a fire in the 70s and parted out or body replaced with another one and only the original body ended up in the uk. We need more information. Do you know where the person in the uk got the body from?

No, the story I provided is the only info we have. The previous owner passed away last year so finding out any more info on my end is impossible. I don't it hard to believe that the 5013 330 ended up with the body tag, and drivetrain from this car. Who knows? If we could talk to the owner of that car, if its still around or owned by the same, we might be able to solve some of the mystery.

Your best option would be to find a complete body damaged 456, de-skinning the monoshell, add a spaceframe and hang this body from that and build one hell of a credible backdate. The wheelbase is only 10mm different so no need to stretch the 456, the minor difference could be lost in the wheel wells.

Might very well be yet another GTE/America with a serial number swap. There are quite a few such cases, which have gone unnoticed for years until somebody spotted an incorrect chassis stamping or a remade type plate and then checked the body number. The reason seems in many cases to have been the need to transfer papers from one car to another, sometimes an engine swap. If 5013 could be located, checking the body number on that one would likely solve the case.

Do we have full name for "Tad"? Any other owner names from the past?
