Dear all I dunno if I post at the right forum but just have some issue with my 458 which I had only purchased for just over a month It’s a 2010 458 with 20000km on it Starting from yesterday The screen show ASH system failure Manettino failure and CST system failure I have try to switch off the car and wait for awhile and the code are gone But after driving a few miles then it came back again Feel frustrated and any comment s Thanks in advance Jack from HKG Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had exact same issue. May I ask where you're located as mine started to show up when it got more chilly outside. Don't worry though as for me it was only the braking light contact that caused the issue. Resolved by my tech and cost me 150 EUR I would say for the most of the time when these electrical failures shows up on the 458 I never get to worried as in my case there has always been either bad battery (very rare in my case over 4 years of different 458:s in my ownership), bad cables that needs replacement --> just minor adjustments
I agree with the above. On a 458, if there is ANY electrical issue that is random and intermittent, change the battery first. It's only about $200 and it's the cheapest thing it could be. You may even be able to get it prorated, so it's not all lost. A LOT (or most) of the electrical gremlins that happen on 458's are a result of a failing battery. It's amazing how it can have enough power to start the car, but then do other wonky things.
Thanks a lot guys for the comments I will try to replace the battery first and see how it goes Appreciated I am from Hong Kong by the way
Mine is at dealer getting a battery, 2013 on original battery. Restarted car and runs perfect. $700 is what I was quoted by dealer for battery. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you don't want to pay dealer $700, buy the Interstate MTX-48 H6 battery and install it yourself, it will be under $200.
Thanks a lot guys I took the car back to dealer and they said the battery is just fine They just use the computer the erased the code and told me good to go Haven’t have any problem since and hope it stays this way Once again thanks a lot guys
I'm glad you got it fixed. However, don't be surprised if the issue comes back. Sometimes batteries have intermittent issues. I've had that happen to me a few times in the past, and it can drive you crazy! Hopefully yours stays fixed, but if it doesn't, I strongly recommend replacing the battery first, just for good measure. In the past, one battery I had, tested perfectly, then it would randomly die about once a week. It drove me nuts until I realized that the battery had an intermittent internal short. I know that yours didn't die, and worked perfectly to start the car, but these cars are VERY sensitive to a proper voltage when all the systems are booting up. My 360 would run on 1/2 the cylinders when the battery got old. It cranked perfectly strong, but the left and right bank motronics wouldn't communicate with each other unless the battery was perfect. That one also load tested perfectly, and cranked the engine perfectly strong. These cars are VERY strange, lol.
I agree with the others who replied to you. Replace the battery. I also had a dealer test my battery and said it was good. But it wasn't good because I also had intermittent warnings. Replaced the battery and now the car is happy.
I’m in HK too The most likely is battery But if it’s consistently same message it’s a sensor issue, brake light, speed or ABs sensor Go to dealer or other mechanic with Leonardo computer to get a reading, it should be very quick check. I can recommend someone PM me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks a lot dalfk I got it fixed and so far it’s fine and I hope it stay this way Driving this car is somehow a bit scary and I hope not major break down anytime soon
Don’t worry it’s a reliable car, just electronic sensors and battery are timed life and need to be replaced once in a while Mechanically sound car gearbox and engine are quite bullet proof Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will still just change the battery, like what everyone said. Trust me. It will save you many headaches. And put the battery tender on, ALWAYS! Also hope the riot in Hong Kong is over soon! It even made the news over the ocean.
Sometimes CAN errors can occur randomly that’s not sensor related which triggers mannetino errors. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Updating this thread as I just ran into the similar manettino failure/wet mode/flashing warnings with my 2014 458 Speciale (~16k miles) Doing *ahem* spirited driving and mid corner my car sh!ts the bed, higher revs and warm temps outside in manual mode. I got the same manettino wet mode warnings/failures, noticeably along with limp mode power and actually what felt like a big loss in brake boost Car is on CTEK tender 100% of the time it's not being driven, on an aftermarket AGM batt Turning car on/off trying to reset on the side of the road did nothing, but when I was able to make it to a gas station to get gas 30 min later that reset the car back to normal all warnings gone (so maybe needed more time off to reset/initialize reset) Dealer says they isolated the issue to a faulty accelerator pedal sending "all kinds of performance and warning issues", which had to be replaced FWIW ($1000...)
