Well I want to buy a tb and put the 458 wheels on
Puk it took a while to find this thread Papster. I guess you'd have had a crack at some of these little numbers... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-06-22/guitar-sold-at-auction-becomes-most-expensive-ever/11237778
Hi mate, Indeed!! Wouldn't have minded owning that Strat myself just quietly. Some of those estimates before were complete BS! I think they forgot to add an extra zero to some of those estimates prior to the auction. Was all very odd to me. But overall a very good result. Obviously people overpay when it comes to charity and the proceeds are going to the biggest charity con of them all lol. Fender made a Custom Shop model of this guitar years ago that is available to purchase for around $3.95M less for those interested. https://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/fender-custom-shop-david-gilmour-signature-stratocaster-electric-guitar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt6piWQLNac
Yeah man, I did. Definitely has some history about it and why it's worth so much. Well, maybe not $4M, but definitely worth a lot of money to the right person. It's only a matter of time before all the big bands or say famous guitarists sell their gear. To auction, to make money or simply just to down size, they will all eventually have to do it. Around 15 years ago, the Metallica guys had over 600 guitars. They would have even more now, not including all the drum kits, amps, stage props etc. Millions of dollars of music gear sitting around collecting dust! Time to dust some of it off and sell it to Pap.
I had the opportunity to purchase one of Kirk Hammett's stage played ESP Flying Vs around 10 years ago. US $35K was the original asking price, I turned it down as it's not the guitar I would pay that money for. I would pay that and more for some of his other guitars. Anyway, another guy I know of ended up paying US $15K for it a few years later and still owns it. If it went to charity, they may have got US $35K for it lol. Not David Gilmour Fender Strat money, that's for sure. Here is a pic of it I saved from around 10 years ago. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Local car show today. All the kids loved the car.............of course. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cheers Brother, I do it for all the kids as they love the car more than I do. I will take my girls to school in it tomorrow, so that should be fun. One guy just posted this pic on Facebook of my car. I can't believe how a little editing with photoshop makes the car look 1,000,000 times better than it really is. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car Looks much better with a wash, I’ll bet that took an afternoon Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Actually, Pap reminded me of a pic of my car at a show not long ago... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks mate, looks A LOT better! But I have never liked washing or polishing cars, so it only took me around 20 mins this morning giving it a quick wash. Looks good man.
Ok, check this out. I drove the Ferrari to work every day this week, was a lot of fun. I took my friend Mark for a drive in it this morning after work. He had a drive and loved every minute of it. We drove around 30km out of town and back again. 60km round trip, was a very nice drive. Anyway, we pull up into the driveway at Mark's house and his little boy came out and wanted to take a look. Car was in neutral, engine running. Once he climbed back out, I was just about to jump in myself when I heard a VERY high pitched whining noise. I said to Mark, that sounds like a bearing noise, but I didn't kill the engine straight away. The bearing noise lasted around 10 seconds or less, then went away. Engine ran for another 10 seconds or so and the belt started to slip. I said ****, sounds like a bearing is starting to seize Mark! I went to turn the engine off and the noise went away again. Car sat there and ran for another minute or so nice and quiet before I said to Mark I should take this car home asap and investigate the noise. I backed slowly out of his driveway and then onto the main street. I gave it some herbs driving off lol. It's a direct 500m drive down the street into my house. Right before a small intersection across a main road, I heard a massive "clack clack clack" Within milliseconds I saw the battery light come on and with my swift kung-fu reflexes I shut the engine down before it turned another revolution. Yep, first thoughts.......................did a cam belt and now the valves are bent. I called the Brother and Eurosuspect and we pushed the car home much to my disgust. When I got it here, all I could pray for was that the alternator adjuster bearing had failed and that is what caused all this mess I got it home, got a torch and looked down towards the front of the engine and to much relief, yep..............was only a failed alternator adjuster bearing. Jacked it up, dropped the belly plate, removed the broken belts which were wrapped around everything and removed the bearing from the engine. The broken belt wrapped around and destroyed the aircon belt. It can be replaced from memory. Circlip takes the bearing out and it pushes all back together with a new bearing. Did I dodge a bullet here folks? lol I think this might be a sign to have these cam belts changed as they will probably go next. I am going to fit a new bearing, new belts (obviously) and might even change the oil and filter while it's jacked up lol And then I will consider the plan of attack for the cam belts. I am off to buy a lotto ticket gents, enjoy your weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
