Fchaters...while trying to put my 308QV working having the warm start syndrome, I removed the blue plug next to the cold start injector...the car started but I noticed that the plug is wet inside with oil...so my questions are:
    Have you seen this before?
Are there capillarity issues on our cars?
Where is this oil coming from?
What is the best way to clean it?
Do I need to buy a new plug+cable?
Could this be a potential cause of the warm hard start issue?

Thanks in advance. Pictures below Image Unavailable, Please Login

Oil or is it slow weeping gas. Oil would only be from any of the front seals. Either way I would change it out. Just saying..........

It looks like you've lost the locking clip from that connector -- so someone used some black RTV to "cement" it together? Note the wire spring-loaded locking clip on this same style black connector:

Does your blue connector have one in the exterior groove?

With the engine running and the connector unplugged, you could certainly check to see if any fuel is dripping out -- if so, you'd need to buy a new cold start injector.

I lost the wire clip and broke a piece of the plastic but I temporarily tied it with a wire to keep from coming off. But I got a new light blue plug now and I will soon replace it.

No wetness inside the plug, it’s completely dry. Got the plug from an Fchatter (Hinecker)

    Re. your hard warm/hot start..

Have you checked your Warm Up Regulator? I had this problem on my BBi and had my WUR rebuilt and it solved a myriad of problems.

Just a thought. Your car like the BBi with the Bosch injection has lots of little things in that can wear out with age and need addressing.

On my 328 the cold start valve is close to the path the oil dipstick makes when oil level is checked. My dipstick has numerous holes that hold oil. A drop might fall off onto the part you show.

Hi Steve, Although you cannot see it in the picture, my plug does have the wire around the plug. What is RTV? I dont think its gas...its black and sitcky...so probably is that RTV that you are mentioning. I wonder if that is not messing up the "confusing" the cold start injector on the warm start. Im tempted to clean in it with contact cleaner. Do you see any issues with that?

No, the cold start injector isn't used (much?) on a warm restart. You can always try doing a warm restart with it unplugged to see if it makes any difference. The most likely thing to confirm/deny with a warm restart problem is to measure the supply fuel pressure after warm shutoff -- it should stay at something like ~3 bar for 20 minutes minimum or so. Several items can cause it to fall too quickly, but measuring it, before replacing anything is best IMO.

Hi John! I went to Ebay, Amazon, and different auto part store and none of them has the “light blue” color connector, unless maybe I go to the car wrecking yard and cut a used one. It looks still like to know where to get new light blue one.

Yes I’ve seen that on eBay, it’s still the wrong blue, I guess I just want to keep it look original. This is the closest I can find which I was told the 328 uses, it’s better and has the right color but it’s not original.

I just looked at my car. If the original connector body is good you can make the clip. Get some piano wire at a hobby shop of the correct gage. It's a little heavier that a straight pin. The clip just wraps around the connector. It doesn't move up and down like the newer ones. The connector just pulls off, pushes on. It's a little different than a standard EV1 as made today. Correction: I don't think the EV1 will work.

[edit] Just noticed the picture of your connector (post #4) looks broken.

John the problem is that the connector body on mine is no good look at the pic post#4. I have a lot of connector with good wire clip I can use, I just don’t have the right color body.
